The RHEIA trial, presented at ESC Congress 2024, found that transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is superior to surgical aortic valve replacement for women with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis. TAVI reduced the combined risk of death, stroke, and rehospitalization by 6.8% compared to surgery. It also led to fewer rehospitalizations and a shorter hospital stay, although it was associated with a higher rate of new pacemaker implantation and mild aortic regurgitation. Overall, TAVI was shown to be more effective and resource-efficient for these patients. #ESCCongress Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gJR7RZmv
