As wildfires continue to devastate LA, the outpouring of support has been incredible.... but with so many opportunities to donate, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. I've found it's been helpful to track some resources that are actively curating where you can donate -- for example, Substacker Rachel Davies is live updating links to GoFundMe campaigns by % completion, while AFROPUNK Worldwide LLC and Latinx Therapists Action Network are spotlighting Black and Latino communities most impacted. These efforts are making a real difference. Take a look and see how you can help. 🤍 (If you know of any other go-to resources, drop them in the comments. We’re keeping this list updated on the M.T. Deco substack and would love your input to make it even more helpful.) ----------- -GoFundMe’s California Wildfires Hub lists verified fundraisers for people affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles County: https://lnkd.in/gR_nc2h2 -Journalist Rachel Davies is compiling GoFundMe campaigns who have raised less than 30% of their goals on her Substack, Personal Space: https://lnkd.in/gXGd2Sqz ... Similarly, 5PM LUCKY has curated a list of campaigns who are less than 20% to their goal: https://lnkd.in/gvN4r3K6 -AFROPUNK has created a directory featuring the GoFundMe campaigns of Black individuals and families who have been displaced: https://lnkd.in/g4qUbypz -... The Latinx Therapists Network has a similar directory cataloging the campaigns of Latino families affected by the fires: https://lnkd.in/gRvuKA5c -Charity Navigator is tracking the charities who are responding to the LA fires. Through their tracker, you can see the percentage of the funds that are going to the survivors: https://lnkd.in/ggYC4eUr -NAMI has curated a list of trauma resources for Los Angeles-Area communities affected by the fires: https://lnkd.in/g_EnnpdE

As someone who recently moved to the Los Angeles area, I’ve been heartbroken by the devastation caused by the wildfires. It’s been incredible to see the community come together. Through Stashlete, Inc., the platform I work with, you can support multiple nonprofits working on wildfire relief in one place. You won't have to click through endless links or manage separate donations. Here are just some of the incredible organizations already on our platform doing great work to help those affected by the fires: 🤝 Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation 🤝 American Red Cross 🤝 Direct Relief 🤝 World Central Kitchen 🤝 Project HOPE 🤝 National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) 🤝 Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) 🤝 LAIT911 FIRE 🤝 Salvation Army I understand that it’s natural to be cautious about scams or people taking advantage of the situation in times like these. Please know that’s not what this is about. My goal is simply to make it easier for people to help. If you’d prefer not to donate through Stashlete, I encourage you to visit the websites of these organizations directly and contribute there—every dollar truly makes a difference. If you’d like to donate through Stashlete, you can find the link to sign up in the link below. Together, we can help make a real difference for those who need it most. https://lnkd.in/eacvkDqy

I woke up this Monday morning like it was any typical day. I fed the dogs, woke up my son, made a cup of coffee, and ate a pretend ice cream cone (my sons request). But...for someone in LA, they may have barely slept while tossing and turning on a bed that's not their own. For someone in LA, they put the clothes on from yesterday-all they have- back on. For someone in LA, they explained to their toddler that they can't go home to play with their toys. For someone in LA.... Working at GoFundMe, we often see people needing help. During a crisis, that need skyrockets and our friends in #losangeles need help. It's easier to scroll by or focus on an upcoming meeting when you're not directly impacted or seeing a wildfire burn in your city. Even in San Diego, a mere 2 or so hours from LA, life feels relatively normal. I can only imagine the difficulty to comprehend how large of a crisis this is for anyone who's not living it or working on it but it is massive and it's far from over. I've had countless conversations over the last few days on how to help so here are some ways to do so: 1️⃣ Donate- It's simple. People need money. Time and time again we see and hear this. We see it from people impacted directly and we hear it from various support organizations. Monetary donations are what helps people the most and gives them the autonomy to replace, purchase, or secure what THEY need the most. GoFundMe has a hub for verified fundraisers (https://lnkd.in/gB33BqwY) so you can trust that your donation is going to someone in need. GoFundMe.org has a general Wildfire Fund (https://gofund.me/b6569675) that has already distributed over 375 grants directly to people. That is money going directly to someone in LA who has been impacted. There are also countless trusted organizations listed on the hub including World Central Kitchen, Pasadena Humane, Baby2Baby and several others. 2️⃣ Share- Tell your network about various ways to help. Whether you have 5 followers or 5 Million, share so more people have the facts and know who and how to give. Have you shared once? Great, share again. You do not have to donate in order to help get the word out and make an impact on someone's life. Looking for an easy way to share your friends/family/3rd degree connections funds? GoFundMe Profiles allow you to do that. You can add multiple fundraisers and charities to one place. Simply sign-in to GoFundMe (or sign-up!), go to the top right corner under your name, and click profiles to get started and add funds to your list. It's that easy. Add your profile to your instagram bio, in a LinkedIn post, or even email it to your company's corporate/social responsibility team. 3️⃣ Start- Whether for someone you know or a charity you care about, you can of course always start your own. Head to the Hub to get started with one-click. I've hit my character limit so TLDR help where you can, however you can. It makes a difference.
