This is a pic from 2020 when I was invited to speak at a Salvation Army chapel service in Minneapolis with my dear friends Tom and Trudi Canfield. Trudi supported my devotional “Radical Freedom” and bought three cases of books for her clients - and THEN recommended it to other leaders in the northern division - I am thrilled to announce that 14 Salvation Army ARCs in MI, IL, IN, MO, IA, WI, KS and MN are ordering my devotional book for their clients and staff!!! I’ve spent a lot of time trying to kick down doors that weren’t mine; I’ve been blown off and many have not taken me seriously. It’s ok! I haven’t given up. It’s National Recovery Month, and traditional treatment approaches are epic failures. But medicalized “treatment” is big business, and promoting the idea that addiction has no cure keeps recovery centers hopping. Did you know that even the BEST outcomes indicate only 20% stay sober post treatment - the SAME as those who spontaneously quit with NO treatment? So why the need for fancy high-end rehabs? It’s just putting a neck tie on a pig, as my dad used to say. Same old prepackaged offerings with more amenties, but come on- do you really want to pay all that for yoga, lectures with “experts,” and groups where a couple people do 90% of the talking and drain everyone else?
