As we celebrate #Juneteenth today, we can't forget that not everyone is protected by the 13th Amendment. Prison slavery is still a form of punishment administered by our broken judicial system, where people are forced to carry out harsh labor for pennies an hour or nothing at all. And some of the wealthiest corporations in America are profiting from it. ⬇ The web of injustice connects our criminal legal system, labor laws, and supply chains. We need to do better. Now look what this government both federal and state has allowed in Australia. The protest in Melbourne has now turned into anarchy and people are being assaulted. Are we going to allow this sort of behavior which is no doubt common to middle eastern countries permeate Australia? This government has got no commitment to Australian values. They just look after the large populous voting areas and who can reinstate them back into office. What a disgrace this government is turning out to be. We also have a pathetic leader who can't even articulate his support for Israel and the ruling of the ICC. We need leaders who can lead by example.

Farmers across the European Union are protesting due to a combination of increasing costs, diminishing margins, strict climate policies, and the impact of cheap imports, all of which they argue are threatening their livelihoods. These protests, marked by dramatic actions such as blocking major roadways, stem from both country-specific issues and broader, continent-wide concerns. At the end of last year the Competition and Markets Authority in the UK published the “Price inflation and competition in food and grocery manufacturing and supply” investigating the impact of price inflation within the UK’s food and grocery sector. The study examines how competition at various levels of the food and grocery supply chain, including manufacturing and distribution, affects pricing and inflation. It found that while some branded suppliers have increased prices more than their costs have risen, there generally remains a competitive market with the availability of cheaper, own-label alternatives for consumers. The report particularly highlighted issues in specific sectors, such as the baby formula market, where competition is less effective. The protests by European farmers and the findings of the UKI CMA report on price inflation and competition in food and grocery manufacturing and supply are connected through the broader context of agricultural economics, market pressures, and regulatory impacts on the supply chain, in these complex food systems. Both perspectives reveal critical facets of the broader food system, emphasising the need for balanced policies that support sustainable agriculture, fair competition, and consumer protection. 📰 “Europe’s grumpy farmers are a symptom of wider malaise “https://lnkd.in/efJQCfe6 from The Economist 📰 “Price inflation and competition in food and grocery manufacturing and supply” - GOV.UK (https://lnkd.in/e_UrBYUS) 📰 “CMA sets out Autumn update in review of competition in groceries sector” - GOV.UK (https://lnkd.in/ex-Zh2x4) 📰 “CMA finds high food inflation is not driven by weak competition” The Retail Bulletin (https://lnkd.in/eebT2i2j). 📰 “Why are farmers protesting across the EU and what can the bloc do about it?” The Guardian https://lnkd.in/evNnnTrX 📰 “Brussels Burns As Farmers Riot” Sky News https://lnkd.in/ev_xeue8 #IBMRetail #IBMConsumer #FMCG #ConsumerGoods #Retail #RethinkRetail #RethinkRetailTopExpert IBM RETHINK Retail #FarmersProtest #AgriculturalEconomics #FairCompetition #SustainableAgriculture #ProtectFarmers #FoodSystem #AgainstCheapImports #ClimatePolicyImpact #ConsumerProtection #CMA #EU

Rewriting history is not new. What is astonishing here is that it has evolved into rewriting the present—altering reality as it unfolds, in the most online and documented era ever. The liberal and democratic West needs to awaken. Our youth and society at large are becoming hostages to a system of lies and deceit financed and operated by our adversaries. We must not allow this to happen. The freedom of speech ends when it is used to undermine democracy. Financing, spreading, and even sharing falsehoods should be criminal offenses, and law enforcement authorities must pursue those responsible. #TruthInMedia #DefendDemocracy #FactCheck #StopFakeNews #AwakenTheWest #ProtectOurFuture #RealityCheck #SocialMediaResponsibility #FightDisinformation https://lnkd.in/dzW5WRZk

Great insight into the pressures facing farmers in the EU right now. A classic example of well-intentioned initiatives having un-intended consequences. In the Italian wine sector, growers are constantly being pressured by the EU, and the market, to invest in organic technologies and sustainable initiatives which are of course more labour intensive and costly. But exporters seem, thus far, unwilling to reward winemakers by paying more for wines and consumers also seem to be mostly ambivalent. It's enough to make you want to get your tractor out and block traffic! #winemaking #wineindustry #agriculture
Got incredibly sentimental recording this episode with our old colleague Lorcan Roche Kelly about what's really driving the European farmer protests https://lnkd.in/eGR5fMhC
