Organizational changes: China has established a new military space-connected arms of the PLA! At par with the newly established Information Support Force!
For purposes of clarity, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has reorganized its military guided by, and under the command of the Central Military Commission (CMC). There are four military services now: PLA Army, Navy, Air Force, and Rocket Force!
And four new PLA military arms: the Aerospace Force, the Cyberspace Force, the Information Support Force, and the Joint Logistics Support Force; notice the connection between air, space, and cyber! These four arms of the PLA are parallel organizations, whose commanders report directly to the CMC. Earlier, they reported to the PLA Strategic Support Force (PLASSF). PLASSF ceases to exist! Space was part of its mandate in combination with cyber and Psychological Operations!
China's newly established Aerospace force is directly connected to China's space policy, which Wu Qian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense asserted is for peaceful purposes! Question: Then, why require a dedicated military arm for aerospace? Moreover, the direction for these institutional changes from Xi Jinping is clear (see below)
"Regarding the aerospace force, Wu (Chinese Ministry of Defense) said building the aerospace force is of great significance to strengthening the capacity to safely enter, exit and openly use space, enhancing crisis management and the efficacy of comprehensive governance in space and promoting peaceful utilization of space".
These round of military reforms have been guided by Xi Jinping who has stressed "efforts to build a network information system that fulfills the requirements of modern warfare and features the Chinese military's own characteristics, as well as efforts to accelerate the development of integrated combat capabilities more effectively."
It's about achieving seamless integration!
