So needed! I’m glad we have this now! The valuable contributions of nurses of color and midwives of color should be in every text book
Mother, nurse-midwife, nurse researcher, assistant nursing professor, historian, Black feminist, reproductive health justice activist, artist and a poet
As a nursing student, I learned nothing about the contributions of nurses of color. I know this lack of knowledge influenced how I existed and continue to exist in nursing. I am honored that Dr. Tina Loarte-Rodríguez will share her journey into nursing. She is a remarkable human being who represents what nursing is supposed to be. Please join us and share with current nursing students and those interested in nursing. https://lnkd.in/edjA-fxz

💼 Representative Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) and Representative David Joyce (R-Ohio) have introduced the bipartisan Stop Nurse Shortages Act (H.R. 8330) to address the pressing issue of nursing shortages. Supported by AONL, this legislation aims to make a tangible difference by authorizing $10 million per year in grants for nursing schools. 🎓 The funds will empower nursing schools to establish, expand, or bolster accelerated nursing degree programs. As AONL CEO Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, highlights, "Accelerated nursing programs provide a streamlined pathway for individuals... to transition into nursing." 🌟 With provisions to support faculty, preceptors, and clinical training sites, this bill aims to strengthen the foundation of nursing education while addressing the critical shortage of nurses and bring unique perspectives to patient care! https://lnkd.in/g9hmWK43

After meeting Ethan Slocum, a senior nursing student and the President of the National Student Nurses Association, I couldn’t help but reflect on my own time as a student. I've already seen him at two high-profile events, sitting alongside prominent nurse leaders. Back when I was a student, my attention was consumed by writing nursing care plans 😬. Meeting him made me wonder—how can we engage more students in contributing to the profession, and just as importantly, how can we encourage more practicing nurses to get involved in professional activities?
