Great job, Zahra Premji! It is encouraging to see Fraser Health Authority effectively communicating the challenges patients face with wait times. As an emergency nurse, I understand how frequently we are asked, “How long until I see a doctor?” or “How long is the wait?” Unfortunately, there is often little we can do to expedite the process. However, as Dr. Craig Murray shared, we are always thinking about our patients, continuously re-assessing, and ensuring that things are happening behind the scenes. #Healthcare #EmergencyNursing #PatientCare #Compassion
Dr. Craig Murray, regional medical director and head of Emergency Medicine, walks Fraser Health Authority’s Zahra through the Emergency Department experience from beginning to end. He explains how triage works and what happens behind the scenes of your health care journey.

For a patient, entering a hospital's emergency department (ED) can feel like stepping into a whirlwind of uncertainty, and their perception of a hospital's effectiveness is dominated by how long they spend in the waiting room. The moments between a patient's arrival and when they begin receiving care are critical. In this blog, Dr. Tony Briningstool, MD FACEP, CEO for Sound Emergency Medicine, breaks down how implementing customized and collaborative solutions to shorten ED wait times can transform a waiting room from a patient prison to an efficient throughput checkpoint. **Happy International Emergency Medicine Day!** Today, we celebrate and honor the exceptional contributions of emergency medicine professionals worldwide. Their dedication and expertise are crucial in providing immediate, life-saving care. Labeling these professionals as “heroes” can unintentionally lead to their exploitation and create unrealistic expectations, suggesting they should accept challenging conditions without adequate support or compensation. It’s essential to acknowledge their dedication and skills while advocating for better working conditions and recognition. #EmergencyMedicineDay #HealthcareProfessionals #EmergencyCare

Entering a hospital's emergency department (ED) is often overwhelming, filled with anxiety and uncertainty. Patients worry about getting the right care and if they made the right decision. The critical period between arrival and receiving care significantly impacts a hospital's reputation and patient trust. Efficient, compassionate, and timely care can make a big difference. Long wait times and poor communication can damage trust, while swift diagnoses and resolutions boost confidence. Hospital leaders are focused on reducing wait times to improve outcomes and meet CMS quality standards. Learn more about the importance of ED efficiency by reading my recent blog here: https://bit.ly/4eB4eZu

It's safe to say that medical care is a blessing to people, especially in areas where medical care can be difficult to come by. Equally, those providing medical care as part of missions outreach are also blessed. As this year's Global Missions Health Conference (GMHC) approaches, many medical professionals are preparing to be challenged, encouraged, and in the case of Dr. Amy, looking forward to where God will lead her and her husband next. Her story, and information about this year's GMHC, is available on our blog: https://lnkd.in/d_zZ7aXN
