Happy #ThrowbackThursday Since October is breast cancer Awareness month, we are throwing back to an article we wrote last year. We find that it's just as relevant this year... In recent years, it has become clear that women with NF1 are at an increased risk for breast cancer, with the risk being two to three time higher in women with NF1 than in those in the general population. Dr. Bruce Korf - geneticist, neurologist, and scientist - and Bev Oberlander - NF1 patient and breast cancer survivor - share a deeper insight on breast cancer in NF. In 2007, I lost my beloved mom after her 14-year battle with breast cancer. As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I did a personal DNA assessment, just as I do for my clients, and I felt a wave of relief seeing a "slightly lower risk" for breast cancer in my genetic profile. While I remain diligent about regular mammograms and risk-reduction measures, this finding has helped ease some of my fears about breast cancer, the second leading cause of death for women in the U.S. Our current odds are about 1 in 39. To all the survivors: I respect and honor you deeply. I understand how difficult this journey can be, and I know it affects not just you but also your loved ones. 💗 💗 There are steps you can take to help reduce the risk of recurrence, and I’m here to support you through that process. No one should have to face this alone. If you’re interested in learning more about your risk factors for certain diseases, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share how you can gain insights through personalized DNA assessments. You can send me a DM or schedule a 15-minute call using the link in the comments. #TracyLinn #SexyBodySystem #BreastCancerAwareness #HealthAndWellness #PerformanceCoach
