We value the expertise, different experiences and ideas that every member of our team adds to our inclusive culture at Memorial Hermann. That's why we recognize Celebrate Diversity Month every August to honor all dimensions of diversity within our community. As part of this celebration, the Community Service Corps partnered with Women United for Equity Network (WUEN) Employee Resource Group for a day of volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. By giving back, these volunteers embody our commitment to creating healthier communities.

We stand in solidarity with our Black employees, patrons, and communities, acknowledging both the history and the present-day challenges. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽 Our commitment to meaningful action, equity, and inclusion is unwavering. Together, we strive to create positive change within our organization and beyond. 🌍💪 How are you recognizing Juneteenth today? Today we honor Juneteenth! Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day marks a pivotal moment in American history, symbolizing resilience, liberation, and the ongoing fight for racial equality. The South Boston Collaborative Center recognizes the profound contributions of Black communities to our nation's fabric and commit to fostering a future rooted in justice, equity, and inclusion. At the Collaborative Center, we are dedicated to creating a workplace and society where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered. Join us in celebrating Juneteenth by: Educating ourselves about the history and significance of Juneteenth. Supporting Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. Engaging in meaningful conversations about race and systemic inequality. Volunteering or donating to organizations advocating for racial justice. Together, we can honor the past and work towards a more equitable future for all. 🌍✊🏽❤️ #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #BlackHistory #SocialJustice #EqualityForAll

Today, The BOW Collective broke barriers as we met with top officials to discuss policies for Black women-owned businesses. The 200+ BOW Collective is doing $1.4 BILLION in business, and we are ensuring equity and inclusion in federal contracting and business opportunities. For the first time in history, SBA data shows deep racial disparities in government spending to Black businesses. We believe that more spending will create more jobs. Advocacy equals access, and together, we raised our voices to make a difference. #BOWatWhiteHouse #BOWBreaksBarriers #AdvocacyEqualsAccess #BlackWomenInBusiness #EquityAndInclusion #WhiteHouseVisit #Sisterhood #WomenEmpowerment #BusinessPhilanthropy

Today, we honor Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day. It is a time to reflect on our past, celebrate progress, and renew our commitment to equity, equality, and justice for all. This historic day holds tremendous significance in our nation’s history. Observing Juneteenth is not only about acknowledging the struggles and triumphs of the past but also about recognizing the work that still lies ahead. It serves as a powerful reminder that the fight for equality and social justice is ongoing. It is a call to action to address systemic racism, promote inclusivity, and create a more equitable society for future generations. As we commemorate Juneteenth, let us honor the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history. Let us amplify their voices, uplift their stories, and support their pursuit of justice and equality. By standing together, we can build a future where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. I was recently listening to a podcast where I learned of the amazing activism and resiliency of Claudette Colvin. Her story is an inspiration - I encourage you to take a look and learn about the brave 15-year-old who took a stand on a bus in 1955, 9 months ahead of Rosa Parks, ultimately sparking the plans for the bus boycott in Alabama and significantly contributing to the Civil Rights movement. https://lnkd.in/gNCGGJuP #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #Equality #Justice #Inclusion #SocialJustice #EmancipationDay #BlackHistory #UnitedByEquality #DEI

Happy Juneteenth, everyone! Today, we celebrate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. While President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, it took over two years for this news to reach Texas. On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger announced freedom for all enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. Since then, #Juneteenth has evolved from religious services and picnics into vibrant celebrations with parades, rodeos, and music. In 2021, it became a federal holiday, thanks to the efforts of the Juneteenth National Observance Foundation. While the journey towards equality continues, this day stands as a beacon of hope and resilience. There’s no better time to reflect on the African American community's journey and reaffirm our commitment to equality than now. So, how can we honor Juneteenth in the workplace? 💡 Educate: Host lunch-and-learns, invite speakers, or provide resources on Juneteenth's history. 💡 Reflect & Celebrate: Create spaces for #employees to learn and celebrate, potentially establishing annual company traditions, or including the day as a company holiday. 💡 Participate: Encourage employees to attend community events or sponsor a workplace celebration. 💡 Support Black Communities: Make a donation to charities that support Black communities and shop at Black-owned businesses. Juneteenth reminds us of the struggles, resilience, and achievements of African Americans. Let's honor the past while building a more diverse, equitable, and #inclusiveworkplace—not just today, but every day! #NavigatingHR #DiversityandInclusion #DEI #WorkplaceCulture #HumanResources #BusinessOwner #SmallBusinessHR #Leadership #HRConsulting

Happy Black History Month! During this time of year, Habitat Minnesota rededicates itself to the values of Habitat for Humanity's founders at Koinonia Farm. "When we could afford to hire seasonal help, Black and white workers were paid a fair, equal wage. When the community and its guests and workers prayed or ate a meal, we all sat together at the table, regardless of color. Our commitment to racial equality, pacifism, and economic sharing brought bullets, bombs, and a boycott in the 1950s as the KKK and others attempted to force us out. We responded with prayer, nonviolent resistance, and a renewed commitment to live the Gospel." —A Brief History of Koinonia Farms Rooted in the same values, we are committed to being actively anti-racist and affirm that Black lives matter. Historic housing discrimination in US housing policy – particularly discrimination against Black Americans – is one of the chief drivers of racial inequities that persist today. We must understand that history, and it must inform our work moving forward. We hope you celebrate Black History Month with us this year. Let's continue advocating for a world where everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. #BlackHistoryMonth #HabitatforHumanity #BlackLivesMatter #KoinoniaFarms
