MHANJ was pleased to participate in Collaborative Support Programs of New Jersey (CSPNJ)'s fabulous #Fallfest event yesterday, Sept. 12, featuring a great opportunity for fun and wellness activities for peers, staff and friends. Our own Barbara Johnson and Merrill Altberg were happy to support our community partners and catch up with old and new collagues. A good time was had by all!

🔥Fire pit cinema night with Barcombe Nurseries 🥒 Focusing on collaboration and community is essential to the spaces I aspire to be a part of and to create. At Field Food, people often mention ‘new competitors’ doing similar things to us. However, we don’t see competition; we see amazing people creating more opportunities for local produce to reach customers and for communities to connect in meaningful ways. Viewing others as competitors seems so common, yet time again we’ve found it to be counterproductive to true progress. Embracing collaboration, rather than competition, fuels growth and strengthens the impact we can all have together. We’re always open to conversations and partnerships with like-minded businesses, believing that by working together, we can create even greater positive change in our communities. We recently launched our Teams Festive offering, but if your team and collaborators need a space for something a little different give us a shout - https://lnkd.in/ee4fXibC

Community Engagement Drag Queen Participation Consultant - Keynote Cabaret Extraordinaire - Public Speaker - PowerPoint Revolutionary
I Hate #TownHalls! Lemme ask you something, when you look at this totally real picture of a Public Town Hall, do you think Community Engagement? When you stare at this photo of 18 irate people waiting their turn to stand at a lectern and yell at a Junior Town Planner, do you say oh wow that's effective #communityconsultation? God I hope not! If you look at this same old boring Tired little Town Hall and see genuine engagement, then girl you got terrible taste! Town Halls are sooooo 2012! The last time a town hall was actually effective was when Julia Roberts starred in Eat, Pray, Love and that movie was DISAPPOINTING! Town Halls are #combative, they’re #performative, they’re #anxiety inducing! I don't care how good you think you are, Your Town Hall will only grant the loudest and the most entitled voices in the room the opportunity to waffle on and take up everyone else's time. Including yours! The very nature of a Town Hall is set up to cause conflict. Everyone's racing against the clock trying to share what they need to share, and say what they need to say before the Crochet Club boots us all out at 7.30pm The decision-makers come off looking like jerks, the community gets labeled as NIMBYs and the engagement practitioners are seen as spineless fence sitters. Let Mama GiaVulva give you a tip. Town Halls are out! Drop In Sessions are what's Hot in Community Engagement This season! #communityengagement #townhalls #publicmeetings #conflict #angrystakeholders #dropinsessions #juliaroberts #eatpraylove #nimby Stay tuned for more... A key focus of Flemington Works is to understand and disrupt the conditions that hold social and economic inequality in place. One such condition is power. To inform our work, we have used this beautiful Far West Community Partnerships model. In practice, when designing and delivering our recent workshop series, this meant doing pre work with service providers and funding and policy partners, demonstrating humility, delivering sessions with Community Advisors in advance of workshops to ensure they felt comfortable and confident with the proposed content and process, establishing an agreed way of working together, curating spaces and seating, using a paid participation model, and ensuring table facilitators had a connection to Community. What efforts have you used to help shift power when working collaboratively?

✨ Breaking the Routine: A Day with the Red Kite Community Housing Team ✨ Wednesday was a day to remember! My colleagues and I at Red Kite Community Housing participated in our annual Community Morning. We spent three hours cleaning up litter in Wycombe Marsh, connecting with one another, and making a positive impact on our environment. Here are three reasons why such community activities are so impactful: ✅ **Change of Pace**: Stepping away from our routine jobs, we got the chance to do something different and refreshing. It was a great way to recharge and gain new perspectives. ✅ **Building Connections**: It was wonderful to communicate and collaborate with people we don’t usually get to see regularly. Special shoutout to Asmita for being an amazing teammate and bringing so much energy to the task! ✅ **Demonstrating Commitment**: Activities like these highlight the strong commitment companies have towards the community. It's heartening to see our efforts making a tangible difference in society. After the morning's activities, we headed back to the office for an extended lunch and a catch-up with colleagues. Trevor Morrow shared a few words, and we enjoyed some delicious home-baked cupcakes. 🍰 A big thank you to everyone involved, especially our team leaders Rodney Bullock and Julie Gamble-Kempe, and comms lead Sharon Whitehouse. Let's keep making a positive impact together. 🌟 #CommunityEngagement #Teamwork #EnvironmentalCare

📢 ANNOUNCING MAY EVENTS! 📢 Whether it’s from memories on the schoolyard, from inequity in the workplace, or the relationships you hold close, you know we have major challenges to overcome if we're going to become a gender-equitable society. So if you’re committed—or if you’re curious—there is a place for you in the Next Gen Men community. We facilitate online and in-person events for people of all genders and backgrounds to unpack how masculinity is evolving, how we can show up as allies and stakeholders, and how we can have healthy relationships with ourselves and others. If you leave with just one idea that stays with you, that’s a win. If you walk away with a feeling of connection, that’s a double-win. If you keep your connections and ideas in motion long after the event wraps up, that’s transformation. Join us this month!
