This week Mental Health Cooperative is recognizing Overdose Awareness Week, a global campaign to end overdose. It is a time to remember loved ones who have died from drug overdose and acknowledge the grief of those left behind. We encourage support and recovery for everyone impacted by substance use and overdose. This week's Monday Motivational Message is from Carl Bard, writer, who said "Though no one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending." If you or your loved one needs resources, contact us today at (615) 744-7400. Our team specializes in treatment for those with substance use or addiction. We are here to help and support you.

🚪 The Uninvited Guest: Understanding Addiction in the Family 🍾 Addiction is like that relative we all have who shows up uninvited, drinks too much at the party, and starts reenacting scenes from their favorite telenovelas. 🎭 Except, it's not just one night of drama; it's every damn day. It affects everyone: from the person battling the addiction to their third cousin twice removed. It's a family affair, and not the kind you want to RSVP to. 👪 Mental health therapy for families dealing with addiction is like getting a guidebook in a language you understand, for navigating a country where the road signs are all in gibberish. 🗺️ It's about understanding that addiction isn't a solo journey; it's a family road trip with flat tires, no map, and a broken air conditioner. 🚗 But therapy? That's your roadside assistance. 🛠️ #AddictionAwareness #FamilySupport #MentalHealthTherapy #AtomicSoulsCounseling

Family involvement in the recovery process from addiction or a mental health condition can be highly beneficial. In addition to offering much-needed emotional support during the recovery process, engaging in family therapy can help improve communication between family members, strengthen relationships, and reduce conflict. While they may not fully understand addiction or mental illness, involvement in the recovery process can help family members learn more about these issues and better understand what their loved one is going through. They are often able to recognise when their loved one is struggling and may be able to identify triggers or warning signs of relapse, which can help keep their loved one on track with their recovery. By reducing the stigma surrounding addiction and mental illness and creating a more supportive and understanding environment for the person in recovery, and engaging the family to expand the support network and provide encouragement and support along the way, we lay the foundations for success for everyone. #familysupport #addiction #mentalhealth
