Supporting Samaritans Awareness Day and Mental Health First Aid Training
For over 70 years, the Samaritans have provided vital support to those in need. On Samaritans Awareness Day (24/7), we recognise the crucial work of volunteers who have saved countless lives across the UK. The date, 24/7, reflects the round-the-clock availability of Samaritans helplines. If you need to contact a Samaritan you can reach one via the link in the comments.
As we mark this date, The HR Dept considers the role SME businesses play in supporting mental health. How can you equip your team members with skills to recognise and support colleagues experiencing mental health challenges?
An opportune way to do so would be by registering your interest for September when we will be once more offering places on our Mental Health First Aid Training course.
From a business owners’ perspective, key benefits include:
1. Improved productivity through better mental health awareness
2. Potential reduction in absenteeism
3. Enhanced reputation as an employer who prioritises staff wellbeing
To ensure quality delivery, there will be limited places for this training. Please note this course booked out earlier in the year so if you'd like to participate, please register your interest and we will provide further details in due course.
This training presents an opportunity for SMEs to develop their approach to workplace mental health support. It could benefit both your employees and your organisation.
For those interested in broader health and safety measures regarding Mental Health, our sister company, the H&S Dept, offers additional services including First Aid Needs Assessments which now must consider mental health. They can also assist with legal compliance regarding mental health safeguarding in the workplace.
For more information about Mental Health First Aid Training or to express interest, please get in touch. For health and safety-related queries, the H&S Dept would be happy to help.
