I just learned that August 19 is National Aviation Day! And you may think my excitement for that is weird, but aviation will always hold a special place in my heart. My first "real" job out of college was as a Human Resources Generalist for Garrett Aviation, a corporate aviation company. And, boy, did I learn a lot in that job! Not just about HR and employees and managers, but also just about how to be a business leader. It's where I learned it is ok, even if you are the most senior member of a company, to ask questions when you don't know or understand.
In my 2 years at Garrett, I experienced an Affirmative Action Audit by the OFCCP, a union organizing campaign, my manager getting terminated and his replacement having vastly different expectations of me than the previous manager (which was a lesson in communication for both of us), an acquisition by GE, and working in a very male-dominated industry. It was also where I met my husband, but that's a story for another day.
I get so excited anytime I get a chance to work in or near aviation. It is a field that continues to fascinate me!

Some of you know that I'm not just a simple HR, I'm a universal administration and aviation HR professional. I have the incredible opportunity to work with administration and aviation personnel, understand their unique needs, support them, and navigate through many fascinating cases and situations in this magical and sometimes mysterious world ✨
One of my key responsibilities is to use the summer season wisely by visiting our crews at various bases. So far, I've had the pleasure of visiting 2 bases, with 2 more on the way. These meetings are invaluable for both myself and our crews.
