F1 Wacky Races * McLaren’s Lando Norris took pole position for the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix in a chaotic, crash-strewn qualifying session. The session was punctuated by five red flags for heavy crashes involving, in order, Williams’ Franco Colapinto, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, both Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso, and Williams’ Alex Albon. Thankfully all the drivers were okay. For anyone believing that driving a modern F1 car is easy… top performers usually make their job look easy (sport or the business world)… the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying session demonstrates under certain conditions, competing in a modern F1 is anything but! The problem in such wet conditions is when the car goes, it's very difficult to regain it. The grip levels of modern F1 cars are a sight to behold, thanks to the design and engineering effort, but in the wet, drivers dancing on the edge, can go over that edge in a heartbeat and be flying to the nearest wall!
