The industry is more and more looking into, with the help of strategic marketing, trying to make the distinction between certain options trickier to cover. Billions of dollars were spent on this 𝐮𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐛-𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 (𝐟𝐚𝐤𝐞) 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬, why not spend on organic and ethical farming for real meat? The reason is simple, businesses will have: 1. No money in healthy foods and healthy people. 2. No ownership and control for natural foods unlike synthetic they can patent and own them. The stakeholders of the fake foods industry are the same stakeholders of the pharma and medical industry, go figure that out. #greenwashing #climatehoax #fakemeats

I'm sure I have some marketers, plantbased or vegan advocates or general foodies interested in sustainability here. Danish "big pork" were told off in court for "greenwashing" sustainable pigs. If you want to reduce the environmental impact of menus, reduce the meat (& dairy). It's basic science/trophic levels. In Denmark's defense, they do have a high rate of vegetarianism & have put some cash towards plantbased innovation. Not sure how this pig farming country (more pigs than people by 2 fold) can counteract its meat production but apparently 90% is exported. A huge chunk of pork export is to the UK (bacon?) so really who is polluting? https://lnkd.in/dMPBYVJJ

An important video by Thrive Project. Plant-Based (and cell-based) meat is an innovation that can address the huge environmental impact of using animals for food. Whilst some plant-based foods are healthier, it’s much needed to mitigate the destructive and unnatural impact of intensive animal farming as used today globally. Not only is there the huge impact of deforestation to graze cattle and grow crops for factory farmed livestock, as well as ecosystem threats through fishing vessels/aquaculture, it also accounts for 20% to up to a third of global emmisions. Most extreme is the amount of water used to support it and natural areas required for conversion. There are also massive public health threats linked to antibiotic resistance and zoonotic diseases through the use of intensive animal farming, as well as waste run offs, pollutants, polluting waterways and natural ecosystems on land and in the ocean. Often also affecting poorer communities in developed and developing nations. Not to mention biodiversity loss. These factors show just how far it falls short of Strong Sustainability, in that extraction and conversion exceeds regeneration, meaning that you cannot purport to support sustainability in agriculture, if you support the current system of animal agriculture and all of the impacts that come with it.

Plant-based meat strategy...

We've discussed how local food has distinct nutritional, environmental, and social advantages over the industrial food system. You don't always need to highlight your product or company but can focus on an issue - like regenerative farming. There's a great documentary out that tells a great story about regenerative farming and if you have a local sourcing story, you could find a way to leverage this film. 1. Host a screening of the film with a panel discussion or Q&A session with local food producers and experts. 2. Use your social media platforms to share key takeaways from "Common Ground" and relate them to your brand's practices. 3. Use quotes, imagery, or themes from "Common Ground" in your marketing materials. 4. Create a special menu or product line featuring local farm ingredients. It creates an excellent opportunity to discuss a critical issue and align your brand with it.
