I'll be at Spotlight conference next week 30th in Amsterdam because I want to up my marketing game. I believe that almost Everyone is a marketer. Whether you realize it or not, you’re doing some form of marketing every day. As an employee, you’re marketing your skills and value to your team. As a business owner, you’re constantly positioning your product or service in front of the right people. As a content creator, you're building a personal brand to engage your audience. #VidCon was my 4th conference this year, so here are a few things I've picked up from my conference circuit run: 1. Creator economy conferences are mostly cut from the same cloth. What makes one stand out is how you hustle before and after. Go in with a game plan and make it happen. 2. There's no rulebook for #VidCon. Met tons of folks who went to the conference, and plenty who didn't. Just figure out what you want from each conference and plan accordingly. 3. Deals definitely get done, or at least get a big push forward. We do a ton of virtual meetings, but those can drag on forever. In person, people get a real feel for you and are more likely to work with you because of it. Set up some breakfasts, lunches, or coffee chats and get it done. 4. Got a business problem you're trying to crack? Chances are someone's already solved it. Start asking about it early on in convos. These are business conferences after all, and people appreciate you getting to the point. 5. Stuck in a convo that's going nowhere? It's cool to bounce, just don't be a jerk about it. Overall, after working with some major traditional talent and athletes early on, then jumping into digital, I'm seeing these worlds look more and more alike. If you ask me, that's a good thing - means more cash is flowing into digital, and we're all gonna benefit from that.

I've been scrolling through LinkedIn lately and feeling a bit...underwhelmed. It's like an endless echo chamber of "Look at me, I'm at this panel!" and "Guess which fancy resort town is my next conference stop". Don't get me wrong, I love a good networking event, but lately, it feels like LinkedIn has turned into a virtual game of "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?", only with less intrigue and more lanyard-flashing. I can't help but wonder: whatever happened to the thought-provoking discussions? The deep dives into industry trends? The sharing of real, actionable knowledge? Maybe it's just me, but I miss the days when this platform was less about showcasing attendance and more about sharing actual insights. Anyone else feeling a little #IndustryFOMO from NOT being at a conference right now? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this. Is this just a temporary trend, or is this the new normal for LinkedIn? Are we sacrificing substance for the sake of social proof? In the midst of all this glitz and glamour, let's not forget the countless professionals who are working tirelessly to make this industry thrive.
