Partners | Hope in the desert In the remote desert of northern Kenya, the Gabra people are among the least reached people groups in the world, with less than 2% of their population being Christian. But God is at work here. Through organisations like Lifeway Global, families are hearing the gospel for the first time, and communities are witnessing life-changing miracles. In one small Gabra village, an elderly woman’s decade-long illness had left her family searching for answers. They turned to traditional practices, including animal sacrifices, to bring healing but nothing changed. When disciple-makers from Lifeway heard of her situation, they visited the family and prayed with them. To everyone’s amazement, the woman stood up from her bed and was miraculously healed. Not only did one individual, one household, one family hear the good news of Jesus, but the word spread rapidly. Other families began inviting believers to share the gospel and pray in their homes, and many in the area have since decided to commit their lives to Christ.

Holy-robed hustlers traveling in style As far as I am concerned these so-called holy folks in Taiwan parading around in monk's garb such as the ones shown June 11, 2024 should swear to live a life of austerity. Yet they were traveling in reserved cars of the high-speed rail, one of the priciest ways to get around Taiwan. Did they have pressing business? I highly doubt it. These hustlers hide behind holy robes to evade the harsh realities of life including making honest living as most people are obliged to do. Instead of traveling in the bullet train, they should be restricted to buses. After getting off a bus their cohorts can pick them up in pedicabs to ferry them to final destinations. If living by their religion works, the world should be free from violent conflict, food insecurity, extreme leadership, radicalism among other manmade miseries. In short these monks preach pie-in-the-sky to live comfortably off donations from the gullible, a tactic similar to that used by scammers. #HolyRobedHustlersTravelingInStyle

The rains are pouring, and even the early birds are left rummaging in vain, seems the worms themselves are boycotting. Meanwhile, word has it that last night, Kensilver buses to Meru were sold out before the clock struck eight. Today feels like the day a well-positioned monkey might just slip from the highest branch of the pawpaw tree. So, here’s the question: what ancestral transgression did we, the people of Meru, commit to be left at the mercy of a self-appointed bishop and queen of the Baite Kingdom? Enlighten us, O Majesty! What pearls of wisdom will you bestow upon us this time? Development? Absent. Change? But a mirage. Our people are marooned in poverty; the county’s power grid flickers like a distant memory; hospitals have shelves as bare as the Sahara; insecurity thrives like a harvest. Her grand strategy? A single cow for an entire community, plus a smattering of blankets and gumboots a page straight from the annals of epic satire. I’m all for elevating women and their ambitions, but Kawira Mwangaza has transformed the concept of leadership into a paradox worthy of Socrates himself. With today’s court decision hanging like the sword of Damocles, one might think she’d temper her campaign ambitions. But no 2027 beckons! The goose, my friends, is not just cooked; it’s flambéed to oblivion. For Meru to chart a new course, our queen must graciously step down. Salvation? Out of reach. Even the forces of nature seem bent on her accountability tour. Perhaps, next time, she might consider the benefits of reading before she endeavors into the realm of leading.

Eid Mubarak! May this Eid al-Adha be filled with joy, blessings, and delicious food shared with loved ones. This holiday is a powerful reminder of the importance of sacrifice and unwavering faith. The story of Ibrahim (Abraham AI ) teaches us a valuable lesson: complete submission to God's will. Here's how this lesson can translate into our daily lives: Sacrifice for the greater good: We can sacrifice our own desires or comforts to help those in need or for a cause we believe in. Overcoming challenges: Just as Ibrahim faced a difficult test, we too will encounter obstacles. Eid reminds us to persevere with faith and trust in a higher purpose. Sharing and compassion: Distributing portions of the sacrificed animal to the less fortunate emphasizes the importance of charity and empathy. Let's carry these lessons forward and strive to create a more compassionate and selfless world. Eid al-Adha Mubarak again!

In Australia, like America we have about a weekly 20% church attendance. I suspect that we don't feel guilty about this. This is a good thing. We have many good Samaritans who provide charitable services in accord with Christ's Good Samaritan parable. Our government is geared for social welfare. Christ did not say 'believe in me or you won't go to heaven!' as Paul suggests. Belief was in his Father. The church made Christ the Father. This is different in the USA. Their motto, "In God We Trust" is a interesting factor. Events through their history suggests that they are particularly susceptible to bogus ministries, charlatans and Great Awakenings. I suspect many feel guilty for poor church attendance. In Australia, politics is separate from religion. If a politician claimed God had saved him from an assassination, it would be a poor election strategy and loss of credibility. Questions would be immediately asked whether Hitler was saved during the bomb plot in WWII?

As long as the Earth exists, seedtime and harvest time shall cease not... The principal of giving is what motivates GOD to bestow more blessings to us like as it rains on the seeds and they pluck out in numerous numbers. Sowing is in various ways of doing which are all enabled by our Faith of actions remember a Faith without actions is a dead one. When our cups are full we need to pour out so as we get replenished. Let us now sow generously in righteousness in any way that we can ie. Extending a hand to the orphans, widows who are verily vulnerable to thrive a future livelihood. When we sow generous giving automatically we shall generously reap a generous giving unto us. What we sow is what we reap... Galatians 6:7

Personal Oases It’s very difficult to grow hope in depleted soil. Exhaustion, overwhelm, and the anxiety that comes from feeling spread too thin almost always obliterate hope from our emotional screens. That’s why it’s so important to find ways to renew and restore our inner resources. We need to give ourselves permission to find personal and community oases—those places and activities that provide refuge and sanctuary from feelings of overwhelm, and allow us to rest and regroup. Oases not only help revive our energy, they can also be havens of fun, intimacy, and meaning. When rested and restored, we can give hope roots in the deep soils of inner security, rather than in the sandy and shallow soils of external circumstances. David, a minister I spoke with, said that his spiritual thirst for meaning—especially when he is downhearted and questioning God— is best quenched through activism of almost any kind. He serves meals to the homeless, gathers food and goods for those in need, and counsels people struggling with difficulties. David’s oasis is outward service augmented by inner prayer.
