"Stainless steel flexible metal hoses" are the preferred choice for hydrogen applications as they offer a combination of high strength, corrosion resistance, and excellent performance. Flexible metal hoses, made with austenitic-grade stainless steels, are suitable for both gaseous and liquid hydrogen service, including at cryogenic temperatures, which is desired for many H2 applications. When selecting hoses for H2 applications, it's important to ensure that all components coming into contact with gaseous hydrogen are resistant to it in order to avoid any contamination. The materials used must also have excellent chemical resistance and be able to prevent electrical charge. Flexible metal hoses are designed to work within a specific temperature range, and fittings must have a lower maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) than the hose used. To protect the hose assembly and increase its useful life, hose assemblies come with additional products such as bend restrictors, protection hoses, hose securing grips, and protective plugs that prevent the penetration of dirt and protect the thread when the hose assembly is not permanently connected. No Balance? If you have a car, you know that due to the mechanical conditions of the vehicle, added to the road condition, the wheels can lose their correct alignment. This misalignment can cause abnormal wear on tires and other rolling elements, leading to expensive maintenance costs. As it is a tube supported on rotating stations, the cement kiln undergoes bending along its entire length which, over time, causes misalignment of the support rollers concerning the tire, abnormal wear of the contact surface, increase in bearing temperature, unbalanced load distribution at the support points and correct geometry mismatch. This situation, in turn, causes severe kiln shell damage and high production losses. The international unit of measurement for expressing, in terms of cycles per second, the frequency of a periodic event, oscillations, or rotations per second is called "Hertz" (ᵟH), mentioned by German physicist Heinrich Hertz. In the infographic, we share the formula to calculate the Hertz pressure in the rotary kiln. Looking at the formula concludes that 40% overload on a support roller will result in an 18% higher Hertz pressure, which can seriously damage the over-loaded area.
