#FlashbackFriday to 2016 when Merit completed the TCA-6 Expansion project, a 100,00 SF manufacturing plant expansion, including office space, manufacturing floor space, warehouse space and employee locker rooms and break room. Our team is no stranger to working in occupied spaces; being a 24/7 manufacturing plant, our team had to work diligently to ensure minimal disruptions to their operations. We completed this project on time, under budget, and with no safety incidents! Toray Composites is one of our longest standing clients and we have had the privilege of working with them on many projects over the years. Merit Construction has a strong presence in the Frederickson area, and we look forward to partnering with more businesses to continue building Frederickson into a leading industrial center. #FredericksonIndustrialCenter #IndustrialConstruction #TacomaGeneralContractor #WashingtonStateConstruction #OccupiedSpaceConstruction #TeamBuild

At Auburn Group Ltd, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation and cutting-edge techniques in the construction industry. To deliver superior results and exceed client expectations, we embrace the use of offsite construction methods. This dynamic approach to building involves the prefabrication of building components in a controlled, factory-like environment like Net Zero Panelised delivered for Greatfields School. This means that the construction process can continue simultaneously on different project sections, resulting in faster completion times, increased efficiency, and reduced costs. But that's not all - offsite construction also offers unparalleled flexibility. By constructing elements in a factory, we can perfect and customise each component before it even reaches the construction site. This ensures higher quality work and allows for greater design flexibility, giving our clients more options and control over the final product. Furthermore, offsite construction allows us to overcome many traditional construction challenges, such as a drastic change in weather and site limitations. With the majority of building processes taking place indoors, there is less risk of delays or setbacks due to external factors. At Auburn Group, we have fully embraced offsite construction as a means of achieving our goal of delivering superior results with utmost efficiency. #AuburnGroup #Construction #OffsiteConstruction #Build

It's cold, but I love being in the Windy City (and that nickname is no joke this last couple weeks) for what's sure to be a productive meeting with a leading modular manufacturer! Some good discussions ahead on how Rmax, A Business Unit of the Sika Corporation along with our sister companies' under the Sika USA umbrella can seamlessly integrate our variety of products and solutions into their supply chain, enhancing efficiency and collaboration. Exploring synergies and building partnerships is the key to driving innovation in the construction industry. Looking forward to an exchange of ideas and paving the way for future collaborations and building a portfolio of solutions for the modular/ offsite construction world. Vaughan Constructions is proud to once again play a part in Mapletree’s logistics development. Located in Queensland, we’re quickly hitting construction milestones for Stage 3 of the project. This current phase includes building 2 expansive 23,400m² warehouses, each designed with dual tenancies with dedicated office spaces. But the focus of this build isn’t just on expansion – it’s also on innovation and sustainability. It’s targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating, ensuring every aspect reflects a commitment to environmental responsibility. Here are a couple of recent delivery highlights: 🔷 Structural steel for Warehouse 6 is complete, with roofing and cladding well underway. 🔷 Warehouse 5’s steel framework is on track for early September completion. But the standout achievement? Installing full-height, 60-tonne tilt panels in Warehouse 5. These 12.2m high, 10.9m wide panels were cast onsite and expertly lifted into place using a 220T crawler crane. As we continue to move this project forward, Vaughan Constructions is setting new benchmarks in quality, innovation and sustainability. Stay tuned for the final result! #VaughanConstructions #BuiltByVaughan #BuildingCustomersForLife #IndustrialConstruction #MapletreeInvestments #LogisticsQueensland #ProjectCandle #MapletreeLogisticsPark

Two year fade! & The Stupids. This is a great point made by Gary Fleisher, it highlights a problem with factory production, it could apply to any manufacturing process but it’s a particular issue to the Pioneering offsite Housing industry. While most people sit at home in their comfie armchair stating I knew this wouldn’t work, I wanted to pay homage to the people who have risked everything trying to make this work. I’ve written several posts talking about how we can learn from these experiences and how we might mitigate against them happening again and unfortunately again. I was one of these people, it won’t work! I said it, and i said it again, why? Because I’ve been in their shoes, and it’s not going to change anytime soon. It’s not the product! It’s not the materials! It’s not the design! Its education!! You didn’t expect that answer did you, well guess what it is, people don’t understand what the hell is MMC, so how the F**k is it ever going to work? Because everyone who has tried has asked themselves that question. Education: if people know what it means, know what they are expecting, know what it takes, know what they need to do, we have a better chance, that knowledge needs to be taught, the two year fade as Gary puts it is the learning process for everyone, except when you have a factory over head eating everything you have every worked for the pressures on! And for many the financial pressure gets most first, work colleagues who are genius at their job suddenly understand that the goalposts have shifted and that’s not something they signed up for. What a pioneer will sacrifice isn’t shared by the wider team, and you can’t blame them, most pioneers believe they can change things! And some can, and some are so stupid they will never give up. I’m in the stupid category, and so are many others who are starting to find each other. “The Stupids” we will certainly get called that until 1 thing changes, understanding. Housing from a manufacturing perspective is just another product, it can be transformed, it will be transformed, it must be transformed, but try and address the barriers first, before you get your factory keys, Educate the people who must be educated, show them what can be achieved and what they must do in order to make this work.

Important lessons here for Modern Methods of Construction - it requires a long-term commitment, careful planning, and a willingness to adapt to changing market conditions. So how can Government support this sector? It's a defining question as to how we can build the homes this country needs.
