Good article on why Fannie Mae becoming a title insurer is a bad idea. One thing I don't often see mentioned in articles on this subject is how many deals get to the closing table because an underwriter "insures over" something after doing a risk assessment. What happens to these deals without title insurance?

Most lines of P&C insurance are underwritten to ~60-70% loss to premium ratio. Title insurance is 3%, I’ve never understood prices in title insurance particularly if a property is bought and sold multiple times in a short period.
