In 2023, Stoïk became an international company: it was such an intense journey! When preparing for our German opening, I was told there are three ways to launch a new country: 1. Drive the expansion remotely with your French teams This is, of course, the most convenient and least expensive option. But it was inconceivable in a local and human-based business like ours. 2. Purchase a similar entity locally It works really well if you are a consulting or accounting agency. But it’s much harder when you are building an innovative business with no comparable model. 3. Hire a great country director to build a local team That’s the option we took, with the fantastic Franziska Geier. But building a great local team is actually not the hardest part. The hardest part is to have the rest of the team not consider the new country as “a side project” and prioritize it as much, if not more, in all of our internal processes. After a few months, I can tell that our German kick-off is a blast. And I’m really grateful to all Stoïk teams for this success! It is just the beginning. Stoïk
