Not sure if "Event Fatigue" is a thing, but there is no better word for the tiredness from meeting 100s of people and talking about the same thing again and again. With so many events happening in the startup and business ecosystem, the person managing and representing the company in events is bound to get tired (if not overwhelmed). That said, events are important for marketing, promotions, partnerships and simply building connections as an individual. One has to work tirelessly to reap any benefits from events. And of course, there are a couple of things one can do to support the event management teams/individuals in their company. ➡️ Send reps from sales team to events with the marketing/event rep. They will be able to better generate (and even convert) leads. ➡️ Execute the deals and partnerships brought in by the marketing/event reps. Seeing their hardwork bearing actual fruits motivates people. I can say all this after attending some 20+ events in 2023 and organising a few too. And quite honestly, I too felt the event fatigue sometimes. But as KL Rahul said in the India tour of South Africa ad, "Mushkil hai, Maza aega". Set Clear Objectives:Define your goals for the event, whether networking or learning, to focus your efforts. 3. Bring Business Cards:Ensure you have updated business cards for effective networking. 4. Dress Professionally:Make a positive first impression by adhering to the event's dress code. 5. Prepare an Introduction Pitch:Craft a concise introduction about yourself and your work. 6. Charge Devices:Ensure your devices are fully charged for note-taking and networking. 7. Pack Essentials:Bring a notepad, pen, and relevant materials for the event. 8. Engage on Social Media:Connect with attendees on social platforms for pre-event networking. 9. Be Approachable: Have a positive mindset and initiate conversations during the event. 10. Follow Up: Send personalized follow-up messages to nurture connections post-event. Do you know the best part of being an entrepreneur? Networking events. This is where you get to meet founders you admire, and peers who you take inspiration from. But for someone like me who comes from a city like Ahmedabad attending these events becomes a task in itself. In Ahmedabad, networking events are scarce. This means I often travel to different cities to attend them. And since I prefer not to leave my kid alone for a long time very often, I try returning the same day. So it’s like taking a flight at 4 in the morning and returning at midnight. Yet as a business owner, I prioritize these events because they are crucial for growth. No matter where they are, I always block out time in my schedule to attend. Here’s why: 1. I find new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations that might otherwise go unnoticed. 2. I get to engage with industry peers to gain valuable insights and ideas, helping you stay ahead of the curve. 3. I can access the knowledge and support needed to overcome challenges and drive growth. Even sometimes it gets hectic to present in those events, I’ll try to attent as many as I can. Since you never know what doors might open when you connect with the right people.
