Sometimes, it's not hunger calling—it's boredom, stress, or the blues. That's when we might reach for a sweet treat or a comfort snack. But let's remember, food is great for nourishment, not as an emotional band-aid. So next time emotions nudge you towards the pantry, pause. Is it hunger, or is it something else? Finding other ways to cope can leave you feeling better in the long run, both inside and out 💫 www.metaboliteclinic.ca . . . #HealthyLifestyle #CleanEating #HealthAndWellness #NutritionCoach #WeightLossJourney #GetFit #FitnessMotivation #WellnessJourney #WeightLossTransformation #HealthyChoices #HealthCoachLife #FitnessGoals #WellnessThatWorks #MentalHealthAwareness #HealthyMeals #HolisticLiving #HealthcareProfessionals #HealthyFoodShare #FitnessLifestyle #SelfCareJourney

EMOTIONAL EATING...😑❤️ We all do it! We eat when we are happy, sad, bored, excited, stressed out, lonely, watching tv, celebrating, anything, and everything else in between. We need to detach ourselves from this. But how?? First, by trying to deal with our emotions in a better way, when we are present and aware of the emotions we have, it's easier to pay attention to it. Stop and see how you are reacting to them. A good little trick to start is to get a box and put in non-food related treats. This way, whenever you feel like you need a treat, you can reach for your award box instead of reaching for the fridge. What are your non-food treats? What would your box contain?? I'd love to know. This is your daily reminder that experiencing fear around food and your body changing isn't the problem to be fixed. When the focus continues to stay on the food and how you can eat to change your body or how you can get more comfortable with your body, the underlying fear is still never being addressed and made space for. This journey is not about trying to fix that you have fear around food or gaining weight. This healing adventure is coming closer to your humanness and making it alright that you're a person feeling fear and there is nothing wrong with that. You can be scared around food. You can feel fearful of gaining weight. You can be with yourself in the experience of perceived diminished safety. The irony is that as you come closer to yourself and hold yourself with whatever is showing up, what you expect to receive after a food or body change you can experience right now in this body. So, the next time you enter into a meal with all of those fears and worries and concerns about how that food might change your body, play with making space for the emotions and sensations present and then observe how the internal dialogue about your food and body transforms. Who's in for giving this a try? Ever noticed how stress or a bad mood sends you straight to the snack drawer? It's because foods rich in fat, sugar, and salt seem extra tempting when you're feeling down or stressed. They promise a quick fix to lift your spirits, but it's a fleeting comfort. This cycle can turn into a habit before you know it. If you've leaned on food for comfort before, cravings for candy or chips might pop up whenever you're feeling low. And with each stressful moment, saying no to these quick fixes gets tougher. But remember, it's a loop you can break, finding healthier ways to cope and snack 🙌 www.metaboliteclinic.ca #HealthyLifestyle #CleanEating #HealthAndWellness #NutritionCoach #WeightLossJourney #GetFit #FitnessMotivation #WellnessJourney #WeightLossTransformation #HealthyChoices #HealthCoachLife #FitnessGoals #WellnessThatWorks #MentalHealthAwareness #HealthyMeals #HolisticLiving #HealthcareProfessionals #HealthyFoodShare #FitnessLifestyle #SelfCareJourney

Yes, this is important! During restriction and early recovery, the body signals for hunger and fullness are often so distorted. You may feel fullness in your stomach and have less interest in/appetite for food despite being so food-deprived - in fact, because you are so food-deprived. It is true that the more you eat, the easier and more comfortable it becomes to eat. Getting lots of food - and rest - is crucial to healing. #eatingdisorders #recovery #edrecovery #disorderedeating #antidiet #health #wellness #mentalhealth #foodfreedom
It is not uncommon for an individual starting the recovery process to feel incredibly full after meals. This can feel both maddening and confusing in that stopping when we are full is usually a very kind act towards our body. However, when one has dieted, restricted and/or has lost weight, they often develop a condition—gastroparesis. This is where it takes the stomach longer to move food through. The result is one feels full faster and stays full longer. The dilemma becomes that we still need an adequate amount of food to sustain a functioning body. So, what do we do? We eat enough despite our fullness. This is not an easy task and is often marked with great distress. And it is only temporary. As one nourishes their body consistently with enough food, the gastroparesis reverses, and their hunger and fullness signals calibrate. Eating enough heals. Eating enough brings life. Eating enough brings freedom. Eat enough.
