Wrong Hiring: The Costly Mistake That Can Damage Your Organization Hiring the wrong person can be a costly mistake for any organization. It can lead to decreased productivity, increased costs for training and development, and damaged morale among existing employees. Here are some of the negative impacts of wrong hiring in organizations: ➡ Reduced productivity: Employees who are not properly qualified or skilled for their jobs are less likely to be productive. This can lead to missed deadlines, decreased output, and lower-quality work. ➡ Increased costs for training and development: When an organization hires the wrong person, it may need to invest additional time and resources in training and development to get the employee up to speed. This can increase the cost of hiring and onboarding the employee. ➡ Damaged morale among existing employees: When employees see that the company is hiring unqualified or unskilled workers, it can damage their morale. This can lead to decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, and turnover. How Metrica Can Help? Metrica is a people-first company that helps organizations improve their hiring process. Finally an empirical proof of the Peter Principle. Cute, but misses the point. The big hole in the Principle is that it assumes no turnover. In reality, people leave the company, and new people are hired. So the pertinent research question is, can hires from outside manage a company better than newly promoted insiders? At the CEO level, as demonstrated by Boeing and H-P, the answer is “no.” How about at middle manager ranks? https://lnkd.in/gFNh2-Vv

Many organizations have always had good intent, apt philosophies and the right product or service to meet a particular need. They grow with the right mentality at the beginning. Institute wonderful policies and strategies to sustain their operations. All of the above gets done by the right people with the right mentality and commitment. The only precursor for anchoring all of the above is the right leadership. I've seen great business lose their niche market to new entrants immediately they miss the opportunity to hire the right fit to lead. They lose that special touch and everything goes into disarray. For new firms and old organizations who do not want to fall victim to this pitfall, do the following; 1. Put in place a robust and resolute system that cannot be circumvented. 2. Ensure this process is well documented and understood by all in the leadership bracket. 3. Ensure employees in-house have the opportunity to take a go at open roles before bringing in the right fit in. 4. Your onboarding process should be more centered on your philosophy as a business. "That should be non-negotiable". 5. Ensure the aura of leadership can be felt and seen by just associating with the organization. 6. Ensure all new hires have the right mentality and can culturally fit. One spoilt nut has the greatest of abilities to change the taste of a wonderful recipe. 7. Appreciate and value #ALL employees. 8. Your talent management should not look at only attracting good talents from outside. It should rather be more centered on growing talent in-house. 9. Ensure you empower every employee because "when you take care of the employees, they will take good care of your business". Hand go, hand come. 10. Organization's success is as much an individual achievement as it is a business goal. #leadership #organization #squarepegsinroundholes

How often do you review your talent attraction strategy and consider whether you are simply filling roles or to quote Apple's Steve Jobs, 'Going after the cream of the cream.' - Almost one-third of senior leaders cite finding talent as their most significant managerial challenge. This article from McKinsey & Company about the importance of quality talent attraction and the impact great talent can bring to a business in comparison to average talent is both insightful and excellent. https://lnkd.in/eCTRDjg9 #academicrecruitment #talentacquisition

The Leadership Lid: Elevating Hiring Managers to Attract and Retain Top Talent In the quest for organizational excellence, attracting and retaining top talent remains a primary goal. A crucial, yet often overlooked, factor in achieving this goal is the leadership quality of hiring managers. John Maxwell’s “Law of the Lid” highlights how a leader’s ability directly influences their effectiveness. By raising this leadership lid, hiring managers not only improve their hiring practices but also create an environment where top talent thrives. At Steadfast Staffing and Consulting Services, we equip hiring managers with comprehensive interview guides and leadership tools rooted in John Maxwell's principles, ensuring they can attract and retain the best talent. The Law of the Lid: Setting the Standard John Maxwell’s Law of the Lid states that a person’s leadership ability is the lid on their effectiveness. For hiring managers, this means their leadership skills directly impact their ability to attract, select, and retain top talent. 📢 A hiring manager with a high leadership lid can create a more effective hiring process, attract higher-quality candidates, and foster an environment that encourages long-term retention. 📢 #Healthcare #Bilingual #Spanish #Staffing #PatientCare #Leadership #Recruiting #SteadfastStaffing #JohnMaxwell #Retention #Hiring
