Looking to extend your home? Take a look at a recent bungalow extension designed by Studio Homer. Extending the existing footprint 1m beyond a previous extension while reconfiguring the roof with a dormer extension brought this 2-bedroom bungalow into a 5-bedroom family home. A double-height entrance leads to a guest bedroom, utility/office, and a large kitchen living space that feeds onto the garden. Upstairs comprises of a main bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite with three additional bedrooms. Moving away from the existing render, we opted for a timber-clad finish that is broken up with a stone-clad base to the building. The roof will be finished in slate with a parapet parallel to the roof for a flush finish to the side elevations. A living roof will be installed over the proposed carport to add to the biophilic character of the building. STR Optimization Tip: Before your floor plans are finalized with your architect, consider taking space from areas that will not enhance your clients experience nor give you a bigger return on your investment. Areas such as walk-in pantries and closets can be merged into an adjoining bathroom, making the room more spacious for older clientele. You could also use that space for something that will bring value to your guests such as making a half bath or adding a laundry room. Of course you could always add square footage from closets and pantries, to a bedroom to sleep a larger amount of people more comfortably. The choice really depends on the demographic and psychology of the client you wish to serve.
