Helping organisations & individuals to give nature a boost. Rewilding here in the UK, providing nature-based solutions for those who want to invest in carbon mitigation & biodiversity restoration
LinkedIn - I need your help! We've had 4 last minute cancellations for our site tour on Thursday 16th May from 13:30. Bank Woods is our “flagship” site, displaying a diverse range of habitats – ancient woodland, new plantations, ponds, wildflower meadows, leaky dams and more, a lot of which has been created since we first acquired the site just 6 years ago. It is also the home of our "conservation grazers" - the Belted Galloways, Dartmoor Ponies and Exmoor Ponies. These large herbivores play a huge role is restoring ecosystems and you've got the opportunity to see them up close in their large 60 acre area. The tour of the rewilding project is in Summerbridge, near Harrogate. Who do you know who loves nature and might be free to join us on Thursday? There will be other businesses there, so you can absolutely claim is as "networking" on your timesheet 😜 #rewilding #yorkshire #networking #natureconservation #biodiversityrestoration

In April, we purchased two properties adjacent to Big Basin Redwoods State Park, intended to support California State Parks in creating a new entrance at Big Basin, ensuring the long-term health of its old-growth redwoods, and improving access for visitors, especially in response to the 2020 CZU fire. Although only 10 acres, the two properties combine with 184 acres of land protected by Sempervirens Fund since 2022, in the conservation area the state agency calls Saddle Mountain. Combined, the nearly 200 acres of redwoods will be key in Reimagining Big Basin as State Parks envisions the relocation of park infrastructure like visitor services and employee housing away from their former location near prime old-growth redwood habitat. Both properties, located in the Boulder Creek Watershed, are sparsely forested with second growth redwoods and hardwoods and contain very impressive views of the upper San Lorenzo Valley. Sempervirens Fund now owns 6 properties in the Saddle Mountain Conservation Area, including the Gateway to Big Basin, Saddle Mountain Vista, and the properties that comprise Sterrenzee Ridgetop. Here's more information about the Saddle Mountain Conservation Area and why it's so important: https://lnkd.in/g52RwHCp

For decades, the 14,000-acre Pine Log Wildlife Management Area drew nature lovers to Bartow County. On Monday, a plan to mine 500 acres of it drew hundreds to the Cartersville courthouse in opposition to the proposed quarry, with many also opposed to broader plans to develop the land into housing, retail, offices and industrial space. Plans are moving forward to establish a granite quarry and a mixed-use village with thousands of homes within the former Pine Log wildlife management area in Bartow County, roughly an hour northwest of Atlanta. 🌳 A victory for Frome's veteran oak! 🌳 I'm pleased to share that the planning application to fell a centuries-old oak tree in Frome due to claims of subsidence has been refused, and for now, this beautiful tree stands tall. While I can't take credit for the decision, we worked with an arboricultural consultant to, on behalf the Trust, submit a letter of concern. This hopefully helped the case worker and decision making process and I'm incredibly proud of the community effort that played a crucial role. 🙌 Subsidence is a complex issue, often feeling like an unconquerable giant, and there is much more to be done to address the policies and procedures that drive these increasing claims. However, this case is a testament to the power of local voices. With 69 public comments and contributions from consultees, the applicant was rightly held to rigorous standards, demonstrating that their case was far from proving that it was exceptional. The recommendation and final decision reports both use the trees status as a veteran tree on The Woodland Trust’s Ancient Tree Inventory to demonstrate it’s importance, and our stance that it makes it and “irreplaceable habitat” subject to the NPPF. We may not win every one, but this is a win to be proud of. It’s heartening to see how local voices can make a difference in protecting our natural heritage. This outcome reminds us that, when communities come together, we can push back against even the most daunting challenges. 🌿 https://lnkd.in/ecbpnEcp #CommunityPower #EnvironmentalStewardship #TreeConservation #Subsidence #TogetherWeCan

Colorado is cleaved by a great divide. Known as Interstate 25, the highway runs due north from Fishers Peak State Park at the New Mexico state line through the Mile High City and into Wyoming. To the west of I-25, the Rocky Mountains rise majestically. Significant portions of this breathtaking terrain belong to federal and state entities. To the east of I-25, privately owned, shortgrass prairie predominates. These two remarkably different geographies represent two markedly different mindsets, and for more than two decades, Ken Mirr has been bridging this great divide, connecting public and private perspectives through the skillful application of conservation easements. ACC helps the land & sea! Managing Cape Cod’s natural resources is a big endeavor, but ACC is up to the task. Whether it’s removing invasive species, clearing trails, planting community gardens, installing shorebird fencing, cleaning up herring runs, or culling oysters, my Corps mates and I are here to help get things done! Natural resource management is one of ACC’s four program focus areas. It is an especially important mission because Cape Cod’s land and water need our care and protection. 🌳🌊 #BarnstableCounty #AmeriCorpsCapeCod #NaturalResourceManagement #Conservation #ConserveLandAndWater #WeAreACC #GettingThingsDoneForCapeCod

Our Only World are funding hundreds of sea tiles across Cornwall and Devon to create habitats for marine life. Over 150 tiles have been placed in Falmouth, Plymouth and Mevagissey, with plans for even more to be introduced at Newquay, Padstow and Port Isaac 🙌 Vicki Spooner, Falmouth Harbour, Cornwall Falmouth harbour's environment manager, said "The seawall has gone from a fairly barren expanse to a complex area hosting a greater variety of species." We're very excited to see what habitats find the sea tiles! You can read more here: https://bbc.in/3UZtXCX #marinelife #marineconservation #cornishcharity #marinelife #marineconservation
