This year marks 25 years of us hiring Interns! What better way to celebrate National Intern Day AND National Hire a Veteran Day tomorrow than by highlighting one of our own? Farhan is now a Crew Scheduling Strategy & Portfolio Manager, but he started as an Intern in our People (HR) Department. His career in the Navy began right out of high school, and he continued to serve throughout college, his internship, and his early career. Transitioning from an internship to a full-time role, Farhan was able to manage his civilian and military careers simultaneously. He’s held various positions at Southwest and moved into a Leadership role last year. Farhan is proud to connect with and mentor current Interns while also participating in our “Heart With Heart” program that transports loved ones and fallen service members to their final resting place. He does all this while leading the Crew Scheduling Strategy & Portfolio Team. “The Southwest Family has supported me through all my career changes, and I’ve always felt encouraged to explore my passions and interests. I carry a sense of pride for Southwest even when I’m not at work, and I’m grateful for everything this Company has blessed me, my family, and all of our Cohearts with.” We employ more than 10,200 military members and 1,800 military spouses and are grateful for their sacrifices and contributions.
