The MSP Airport 2040 Long-Term Plan was officially approved today outlining improvements to MSP terminals, parking facilities and airfield to accommodate growth. The MSP Long-Term Plan incorporated extensive research on future demand and infrastructure capabilities. It also reflects feedback and input gathered through an inclusive stakeholder engagement program that included elected officials, regional community partners, airlines, federal and state agencies, business leaders, travel groups, and members of the public. The proposed projects maintain our commitment to the highest standards in service to our travelers and stakeholders, while minimizing environmental impacts over the next two decades. https://ow.ly/F61950RNXYL

The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), operators of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport - MSP, faced a challenge in finding an available gate for an upcoming addition of a new international route for summer 2024. Early assessments indicated that the current facilities would not have the capacity to accommodate an international wide-body aircraft given the existing traffic and operational procedures. Additionally, airlines were concerned about the impact on their flights. Facing this immediate operational challenge and with an overall ambition to manage gate allocations more efficiently, MAC reached out to Copenhagen Optimization to explore options of using Better Airport to analyze this challenge. With Better Airport already implemented at MAC, our module ‘Better Stand & Gate’ was applied to jointly solve this challenge with MSP. 'Better Stand & Gate' analyzes planning processes by simulating various scenarios and forecasting outcomes, providing valuable insights that enable the joint team to effectively use the airport’s current capacity for both new and existing flights. Based on an analysis of the simulation results from ‘Better Stand & Gate’, the new route could be accommodated in one of the terminals without major disruptions to existing operations. Furthermore, sharing detailed, scenario-based results helped improve the airport’s relationships with its partners, allowing airlines and stakeholders to feel confident about the gate allocation decisions. I've said for a while that if I was Air Canada or WestJet I'd be exploring how I got involved in high speed rail between Canada's urban centres, and its airports. The thing is, are they doing this to actually transform their business model into something more sustainable, or are they doing this to protect their existing market position? If you look at how European airports have become more interconnected with the high speed rail network (including Air Canada doing integrated ticketing), this could be a smart move not just for the company, but the industry as a whole. The next age of the train is coming. https://lnkd.in/gDGM486K

When you do an Airport Benchmarking, it’s better to take into consideration the following key aspects which close to your airport figures: 1. Operational efficiency, 2. Service quality, 3. Financial performance, 4. Capacity and infrastructure, 5. Traffic and demand. The insights gained from this benchmarking enable the airport decision makers to identify best practices, set performance targets, and make clear decisions to improve the airport’s overall competitiveness and operational excellence.

Teterboro Airport is the most flown airport for private jets? Here are the 3 things to know if jetting into Teterboro 👇 Travel Distance: Teterboro Airport is located just 12 miles from Manhattan. However, despite the proximity, the journey typically takes anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. Flight Operations: When flying into Teterboro, expect potential delays due to heavy air traffic. Additionally, air traffic control (ATC) often directs planes to commence descent earlier than at other airports. Thus, it's crucial to plan your trip accordingly. Operating Hours: Although the airport operates around the clock, customs is open from 07:30 to 23:30 local time throughout the year. This means that flights arriving internationally in the early morning hours may encounter challenges. Don't forget to follow Mr. Jets here on LinkedIn!
