I hadn't realized, as an Australian, that for visitors, attending the NYE fireworks in Sydney is something a lot of people living overseas want to experience. Seems like it's on the list, as well as, or instead of spending NYE in Time Square. Sydney for NYE is jam packed with people, so if it is something you want to do, allow yourself at least 12 months to plan it, just to get hotel accommodation. That means, if it is on your bucket list for NYE 2025, better think about planning the trip now. It is always so much fun being in the USA and still being in the old year, when Australia has already had their new years celebrations and are in the new year. #VisitAustralia #NYECelebrations #TravelPlanning
Sydney dazzled the world last night, leading New Year’s Eve celebrations with lighting, projections and fireworks that fired off eight floating platforms and 80 new positions on the western side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Produced by City of Sydney, the New Year's Eve program featured more than 20 minutes of fireworks at 9pm and midnight, with the displays watched live by more than one million spectators along the Sydney Harbour foreshore and reaching a global audience of more than 425 million. The theme for this year’s 9pm fireworks display was ‘Forward with Heart’, featuring the story of Cammeraygal woman Barangaroo, a key figure in the Aboriginal community in the 1700s. The narrative highlighted the fisherwoman’s connection to the harbour, her role as a provider for her people and her pride in her culture. #feelnew #feelnsw #feelnewsydney #visitoreconomy #destinationnsw Imagery thanks to City of Sydney and Matt Lambley

6/1/24 @ 7:27 AM EST: Codename: Simulation 🤖 Great point, Tai Lopez! Elon Musk has frequently discussed his belief that we are probably living in a simulation as well. 🌌 This idea is rooted in a philosophical argument known as the simulation hypothesis, which was popularized by philosopher Nick Bostrom. Musk's thoughts on the matter have garnered significant attention, particularly due to his prominence in the tech and space industries. 🚀 Key Points of Musk's Belief: 1️⃣ Technological Advancement: Musk points to the rapid advancement of technology, particularly in computer simulations and artificial intelligence. He argues that if any civilization can reach a point where it can create simulations indistinguishable from reality, it is likely it would create many such simulations. 🧠 2️⃣ Probability Argument: According to Musk, the chances we're living in the one true base reality are exceedingly small compared to the possibility that we are one of the many simulated realities. He explains that if there are billions of simulated realities, the probability that we are in the base reality is one in billions. 🎲 3️⃣ Discussion in Media: Musk has shared these views in several public forums, including during a conversation at the Code Conference in 2016, where he famously said, "There's a one in billions chance that this is base reality." 🗣️ 4️⃣ Cultural Impact: This belief resonates with concepts explored in science fiction, such as "The Matrix" movies, where characters discover their world is a simulated reality. 🎥 Musk's endorsement of the simulation hypothesis has contributed to its popularity and mainstream discussion. 🌍 5️⃣ Philosophical Implications: The idea challenges our understanding of existence and reality. It raises questions about consciousness, the nature of the universe, and the purpose of our lives within a potentially simulated environment. 🧘♂️ Criticism and Support: - Critics: Critics argue that the simulation hypothesis is unfalsifiable and lacks empirical evidence. They also suggest it might be a form of speculative philosophy rather than a scientifically grounded theory. 🔍 - Supporters: Supporters, including some within the scientific and philosophical communities, believe that considering such possibilities helps push the boundaries of our understanding and technological aspirations. ✅🚀 Conclusion: While the simulation hypothesis remains a topic of debate, Musk's advocacy for the idea reflects his broader interest in the future of humanity and technology. Whether or not we are living in a simulation, his perspective encourages a deeper exploration of reality and our place within it. 🌟 👊 Check the comment section below for more resources on the matrix and how to escape it.👇

This is Europe
The year is 1958 in Brussels, Belgium, when an African young girl by the name Jackie was kept in human zoo as a monkey to attract tourists. Some of the people in the exhibits, in the late 19th and early to mid 20th century, were treated like animals and many died. They included Ota Benga, a Congolese man exhibited in New York's Bronx Zoo in 1906, who was shockingly described as a 'missing link' of evolution. #humanzoo

love-hate thing some days. Wake up thinking, what the hell we doing? I take a deep loud breath and realize, nah. I'm not, can't quit now. This work is different. It’s better than anything I’ve done at Wiki or UC. Maybe it’s because everything I do is rooted in my community, my smokehouse, my people. I’m in the cold water with them, and man, it hits different when it’s your own and we can connect with lineage, we’re all in this together. Every film, every story, every project — it’s for us, for them, not for some corporate belonging. That’s the real work. But then you get the “I don’t even know what you do all day.” Yeah, I get that. It’s funny, right? People don’t see it, but they sure feel it when it’s needed. But here’s the thing — the more I pour into this, the more it comes back. More work, more film festivals, more opportunities, more eyes on the prize. We’re building dreams, one step at a time. I got proof. Just wait a month or two. We sound like we’re colonizing Bellingham and other areas, but is it really colonizing if we’re just building spaces of belonging? I don’t know, but "just give it a few more months tj before you start boasting about your people" https://lnkd.in/gnHsZhwC

This video by Liz Pemberton is compelling! It aligns closely with the work we do at Musicbuds; aiming to deepen the DEI awareness of all educators and caregivers of young children. It passionately emphasises that anti-racism begins with us - the adults shaping children’s earliest experiences. She advocates for proactive steps to instil values of respect and belonging, not just in young learners, but in ourselves too. The video spotlights key concepts like tolerance, acceptance, and unconscious bias, revealing how small, everyday actions can unintentionally reinforce injustice. By recognising and understanding these challenges, we can drive meaningful change toward a more inclusive environment. As Liz advises: “𝗗𝗲-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀.” We can’t go wrong if we start here! #EarlyYearsEducation #DiversityEquityInclusion #AntiRacism #InclusiveEducation

We recently shared Liz Pemberton's 4 Es framework with our first-year students studying as part of our Principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion degree module. This module forms the basis of a thread of equality and inclusion that runs through each module our students study and explores the meaning of these topics, the policies that underpin early years practice of #inclusion, how #diversity can be valued and celebrated, and how #EarlyYears practitioners can uphold the rights of children and families. Our Principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion #EarlyChildhood module was also recently explored in our Norland Unwrapped degree taster session with module lead Tara Nolty, exploring themes of the topic including identities, stigmas, bias and more. To find out more, you can watch our latest Norland Unwrapped session on our website. Link below 👇
