Evolving End to End Traceability - all discussion on this topic is good. But, there is still a little too much focus on selling individual solutions and less discussion on the very high value of improvements to the aircraft parts supply chain that can be attained by focusing on this. Part histories will support part authentication, document validation, and the issues around reliability, warranty, and part quarantine.
I've read the attached article. So, while I like the continued discussion on RFID, it does not have exclusive domain to the solution set. The article says that data sharing about parts is efficient today - it's not. I have 40+ years in the industry and have seen the lack of data sharing, the poor quality of the data shared, the lack of data validation and authentication and the inefficiency in sharing the data. And we don't protect the permissioning process on the data shared.
I have specific examples we can through in a 1:1 discussions that are more than anecdotes, but symptoms of broader issues that we are actively solving for.
SkyThread is building the permissioned data sharing environment that accepts all data, including data accumulated by other tagging solutions, other data collection repositories and other blockchains. We call this our Chain of Chains. This is informed by the fact that we do not have an industry wide solutions that solves for the business problem I defined and presented on way back in 2005 called "Data for the Life of the Aircraft".
We are working on combining our ideas on this with other startups also tacking aspects of this problem with their solutions. This includes our friends at Alitheon, ProvenAir Technologies, LLC, at SmartCert®, at KeepFlying®, at Block Aero Technologies, at Aerotrax and others. We're working with the legacy data sharing protocols to better engage our new data sharing requirements with how they collect and validate aircraft part data today.
SkyThread is also engaged in the EASA study referenced in the article, along with our friends at International Air Transport Association (IATA) at FPT Software and PwC France.
We also know that Aviation Supply Chain Integrity Coalition was formed in late February to study this issue and write a white paper. We're ready for the outcomes of that paper.
