Executive Officer @ Ronald McDonald House | Strategic Planning, Process Improvement, Care and Wellbeing
On Wednesdays, we huddle. Sharing updates, successes and challenges amongst the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia team is a weekly occurrence. But the important part of our team huddle is the conversation from the question at the end... How are we putting families at the centre of everything we do? Our constant reflection back to mission makes sure we stay focused on our purpose. We are not simply completing tasks or meeting deadlines, but rather, we are working towards a greater goal of putting families at the core of our mission. This means that every decision we make, every action we take, is done with the intention of creating a positive impact on families. It's not always easy, but our commitment to this mission drives us forward. #keepingfamiliesclose

What could $339 billion do for charities? A few smart updates to outdated laws could unlock funding for critical causes like food security, housing, and the environment—without costing taxpayers a dime. Public support is strong. The next step is to push lawmakers for change. Worthing is so fortunate to have Worthing Community Chest to give grants local non-profit community groups, which make a difference to so many lives in the town. Did you know that you can easily help raise funds for Worthing Community Trust by donating your old clothes via their textile recycling bins? Perfect if you're having a summer clear out!👚 👕 ♻ The green/turquoise bins (there's some debate about the colour!) are dotted all over Worthing. Find your closest one on the handy map below: 📍 https://lnkd.in/ezeW8grn In the bin, you can put: - All clothing and other textiles such as bed linen, cushion covers, blankets and tea towels - Shoes and other footwear including socks, boots and trainers -Unfortunately they can’t take pillows, duvets, sleeping bags, tents or mattresses https://lnkd.in/efJ-uD3x I'll take a photo when I visit a recycling bin and I'll do a poll on the colour 😁 #TextileRecycling #Worthing #CharityGrants
Last night, Nicola and Laura were honoured to attend Worthing Community Chest's AGM and hear about the exciting future plans for support they will give to local grassroots charities. Worthing Community Chest has generously funded a portion of this year's Between the Blue Film Festival, and we're incredibly grateful for their contribution. The festival simply wouldn't be possible without their support. A big thank you to Susan and the entire Worthing Community Chest team for your tireless efforts to enrich the lives of people in the community. Your work is truly making a difference. #Worthing #CharityFunding #Community

Home Instead West Norfolk takes to the skies for Home Instead Charities!🪂 Our West Norfolk team here at Home Instead is soaring to new heights – literally! They're gearing up for a charity skydive to raise funds to combat loneliness amongst older adults in our communities. Did you know that loneliness can have a significant impact on health and well-being? At Home Instead, we envision a world where older adults can continue to play an active and inclusive role in society. Through thoughtful social activities and companionship, we aim to empower them to live happy, healthy, and connected lives. That's why we're taking the plunge (safely, of course!) to raise vital funds for Home Instead charities. All donations will go towards initiatives that bring joy, connection, and emotional well-being to older adults across the UK, helping to prevent loneliness and isolation. We'd be incredibly grateful for your support! Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference in the lives of older adults. Please visit our fundraising page (link in comments) to donate and help us reach our target! #skydiving #charity #homeinsteadcharities #aging #wellbeing #loneliness #isolation #community #donate #makeadifference #westnorfolk

The increasing pressures on local authorities, health services, and other public sector budgets have heightened the demand for the essential support provided by the charity sector. While this highlights the critical role of charities, it has also intensified the competition between smaller and larger charitable organisations for local contracts. Gary Beharrell, Lloyds Bank Foundation’s regional manager, delves deeper into this issue and explores how larger charities winning local contracts could cause small charities to close. Click the link below to read how commissioners could improve the process for local contracts and create equal opportunities for all charities. https://lnkd.in/e-ZCF7zR #Notforprofit #charitypressures #localcontracts #WeAreMerrifield

Stevenage Community Trust (SCT) is a charity that was formed in 1990 to help and support the people of Stevenage and surrounding villages. I was appointed as one of the Trustees in May 2023 and I am Chair of the Membership Committee. Hopefully, during the past year you will have noticed an increased amount of events that we have taken part in, including Stevenage Day, an evening with Steve Evans and the Christmas appeal week. Many more events are planned for 2024 as the charity is gaining real momentum. Without the support of local businesses we couldn’t help so many people, and unlike most other charities, every penny that we get from membership will be used to help local families and individuals. By getting involved you won’t just be giving back to our local community, you will also get to see how your money is spent. The corporate members themselves are like a community – supporting each other, and often promoting each other’s businesses. Our quarterly Members’ mornings are becoming increasingly popular, and mean that we get to meet each other and learn more about each of our businesses. There are so many other benefits that come with membership, including being invited to the Annual Golf day and the 'not to be missed' Annual Black Tie dinner. One of the biggest things the charity does is giving grants to individuals and families that are in urgent need - we can act quickly and efficiently in these cases. Also, last Christmas we handed out over 250 grants to local families who wouldn’t have been able to celebrate Christmas without our help. Grants can be given to local schools for special projects, for instance we recently contributed towards the cost of new playground activities at The Bedwell school. Money is also awarded to other local charities which need our support. We often supply local sporting organisations with kit and equipment. If you would like to become a corporate member of this fabulous charity and give back to our local community then please get in touch. 🏆 Prize Draw Insights: Celebrating Sussex's Charitable Spirit! 🎉 At the recent Acumen Business Convention, we hosted a prize draw with a revealing question: "Sussex boasts many remarkable charities, yet only a handful are widely known. Tell us how many Sussex-based charities you know?" The results underscored this statement, with circa 100 respondents consistently mentioning three well-known much-loved charities: Rockinghorse Children's Charity Chestnut Tree House Martlets Hospice An additional 77 charities were captured, but a large majority only by a single respondent, thereby highlighting the significant challenge faced by grassroots charities in Sussex to build awareness of the work they deliver. At Focus Foundation, it is our mission to support lesser-known grassroots charities in raising their profile and encouraging opportunities for collaboration. Congratulations to Rockinghorse, Chestnut Tree House and Martlets for elevating their profile so successfully. We aspire to help other charities achieve similar recognition. Together, we can connect communities and change lives. 💜 #FocusFoundation #SussexCharities #CommunitySupport #CharityAwareness #ThisIsFocus ACUMEN BUSINESS LAW
