HR Lesson of the week #21 The forgotten experience of being new... First week at Asthma + Lung UK: 1. People are welcoming and super nice 2. Systems actually make life easier 3. Having Internal Communications, Office Management and HR in one team is awesome. It's nice when the story you hear at the application and interview stage matches the reality when you walk in. Credit to everyone for building and maintaining a great culture especially for new people. #HR #EmployeeExperience #Culture

This week, I had the honor of hosting the Compassion Network Breakfast for the second time at the Commission. The event was organized by my BeWell colleagues in DG HR. It proved to be an enriching and inspiring gathering where participants shared their thoughts and ideas about self-awareness, compassion, and what it truly means to lead with compassion in our daily work. I’d like to take this opportunity to emphasize the crucial role compassion plays in the workplace, benefiting both individuals and organizations. Here are some key points: - Employee Retention: A compassionate workplace fosters loyalty and job satisfaction, ultimately leading to better employee retention. - Stress Reduction: Compassion encourages active communication, creating a supportive environment that reduces stress. - Physical Well-Being: Positive interactions with colleagues have a direct impact on physical health, maintaining steady blood pressure and heart rate. - Interpersonal Bonds: Compassion strengthens relationships, enhances trust, and contributes to overall job satisfaction. In today’s challenging work environment, practicing compassion is essential for well-being, productivity, and organizational success.
