Where's there a will... The story of remarkable ingenuity and resilience...fighting mother nature and winning with simple steps. Neil Desai’s remarkable preparation and quick thinking helped save his Pacific Palisades home during a devastating wildfire in Los Angeles this week. Preparation Strategy Desai implemented an extensive fire defense system that included: • Multiple mobile sprinklers mounted on tripods in his backyard and roof • A two-inch hose connected to his pool pump with generator backup • Retardant hydrogel mixture applied to his house exterior Battle Against the Blaze The fire struck on Tuesday, forcing Desai to evacuate around 12:30 PM when nearby houses began burning. Upon returning at 4:30 PM, he found his home still standing while most neighboring buildings were destroyed. Continued Defense Desai faced multiple challenges: • Lost water pressure around 10:30 PM Tuesday • Fought new fires that erupted Wednesday morning • Attempted to help save a neighbor’s house using pool water, though ultimately unsuccessful Current Status As of Friday, January 10, Desai continues maintaining vigilance, regularly wetting down his property to prevent any potential flare-ups from wind-blown embers. His preparation and dedication not only saved his own Mediterranean-style home but also helped protect other properties in his Luna Vista Drive neighborhood. Fire Retardant • A 60-pound box of retardant hydrogel • Mixed the hydrogel into his hot tub to create a slurry • Applied the hydrogel mixture to the exterior of his house Here's my take: In the Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles (median home price $3.3 million), residents below the hillside community often witnessed occasional fires in the surrounding hills but believed such fires would never reach their neighborhood. Tragically, the 2025 wildfires proved otherwise, catching them off guard and leaving the community devastated. This heartbreaking event has resonated across the nation. Now is the time to act. Let’s not wait for another tragedy to remind us of the importance of preparation. Together, we can take meaningful steps to protect our homes and safeguard our community. In the early hours of Friday morning, a three-alarm fire broke out on Kippendavie Avenue, in the Beaches neighborhood of Toronto. First responders arrived at the scene to find a fully engulfed residential fire that had not only ravaged the home but had also spread to a nearby electric vehicle and two adjacent houses. Fortunately, nine people were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The fire was eventually limited to the house where it originated, but the extensive damage has left three homes severely impacted, with one likely completely gutted. While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of proactive fire safety measures for homeowners. At G Force Security, we understand the devastating impact fire emergencies can have on families and communities. That's why our Fire Watch services are designed to provide essential monitoring and immediate response in fire-prone areas. #fireprotection #fireandrescue #firedepartment #fireprevention #firealarm #fire #fireprotectionmatters #carfire #firealarmsystem #firedamage @followers
