Chief Scientist @ Aleria, President @ ARC, Adjunct @ NYU. Best-selling author, entrepreneur, public speaker
Interesting coincidence: Harvard Business Review just published an article about the relevance of archery to business leadership! https://lnkd.in/d2h7pRWh Here is a great quote right from the opening section: "with its emphasis on purposeful practice, mindful focus, mental toughness, and adaptability, [archery] provides some valuable lessons for today’s business leaders." Natasha Green, PMP, you are clearly ahead of the curve! The authors of this story, Juan-Carlos Holgado and Michael Watkins should work with you!

During my first year of college (not sure I want to admit how many years ago that was...) I took an archery course as my PE elective. It is a great sport that really helps with concentration and confidence, and can be a lot of fun (did you watch the amazing archery competitions at the #Olympics?). I was happy to hear that Natasha Green, PMP's organization, Hidden Gems Archery, is offering archery as a team-building activity for companies in the NY area. Their mobile setup makes it easy to set up a range with as little as 15 feet. Reach out to Natasha, and she can bring a one-target setup to your location for your leadership/HR team to test it out. They have been doing this work for over ten years, and adults love it - check out this video: https://lnkd.in/dVHEcTnE

Competition and Cooperation: The Power of Coopetition 🤝 In the dynamic business world, 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻—the fusion of competition and cooperation—emerges as a powerful strategy. And who is the best teacher to show us this way of living and working? Nature. Imagine an ecosystem where diverse entities collaborate, achieving tasks they could never accomplish alone. Instead of competing against one another, they unite and cooperate, creating a resilient business ecosystem capable of thriving in any environment. An example of what Coopetition is not: Working in Silos! - A significant challenge in many businesses is the silo mentality, where departments work in isolation rather than collaboratively. According to a survey by the American Management Association, 𝟴𝟯% 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙤𝙨 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮. Breaking down these silos through coopetition can foster better communication and collaboration, leading to improved outcomes. Businesses can adopt coopetition by fostering environments where teams collaborate with competitors to achieve common goals. This strategy can lead to shared resources, combined expertise, and greater market resilience. Take a moment (3 minutes) and watch this video. This is an excellent example of how nature shows what Coopetition means. How can your business leverage coopetition to enhance resilience and innovation? #coopetition #leadership #emotionalintelligence #psychology #organizationaldevelopment

What do you want to keep doing in 2024? I asked myself this question as I reviewed my 2023 peaks and valleys. From a strength-based perspective, this is an empowering approach to a New Year’s Resolution. Gallup CliftonStrengths is grounded in the principle of focusing on and developing what one naturally does well. That’s why it is the backbone of my 1:1 coaching practice, team development workshops, and personal philosophy. The list below helped fuel my 2023 peaks: Nature Baths: https://lnkd.in/gKevuEAT Book: https://lnkd.in/eYDwdAz Album: https://lnkd.in/gHzbvbbS Coaching/Guiding Partners: Cairn Leadership Strategies and Chris DeGuzman So, in 2024, I want to keep working with inspiring teams in education, healthcare, and nonprofit fields. I want to keep motivating 1:1 clients to accomplish their goals. I want to keep hiking, learning, writing, and creating. I want to keep thinking, feeling, and connecting deeply with an attitude of gratitude and growth. Your turn! What fueled your 2023 peaks? What do you want to keep doing this year, and how can I support you? #cliftonstrengths #coaching #motivation #peaks #accomplishment #workplacewellbeing #nature #outside #forestbathing
