What do your ceilings, walls and floors all have in common? 🏠 They should all be well insulated. Insulating your home is an excellent first step to reducing energy consumption and electricity costs. Insulation is the most effective way to keep our homes warm in winter and cool in summer. It works by restricting the transfer of heat from one space to another. Investing in insulation in your ceiling, then wall and floor if possible, will help maximise energy efficiency. Our expert, Michael Ambrose, shows how you can lower energy bills and create a comfortable home through the power of insulation: https://lnkd.in/g_rbJb3M

With the Government’s recent push on the BUS scheme, encouraging homeowners to pivot away from fossil fuels, it’s time to look at underfloor heating as the perfect partner to heat pumps in the pursuit of energy efficiency. ✅ Underfloor heating heats a property at much lower water temperatures than radiators; 41°C compared to 55°C. ✅ Underfloor heating comes up from the entire floor, creating a more consistent, comfortable home. ✅ Because underfloor heating uses less energy, it's ideally suited to air or ground source heat pumps. ✅ Heat pumps take energy from the air or ground and so heating bills are reduced without the need for fuels like oil or gas. For more information, take a look at our free knowledge guides before starting your next project. https://lnkd.in/e_XBXkHv #underfloorheating #underfloorheatinginstallation #underfloorheatingsystem #underfloorheatingspecialists #ufh #heatpump #ufhdesign #plumbing #plumbers #plumber #omnie #homeimprovements #homeimprovementprojects

It occurs to me that if the notion of "whole building ducted heating & A/C" were replaced with "Individual Room Air-Source-Heat-Pumps", like the 120v window units now being sold, which can do both, then the USA could achieve MASSIVE electric energy savings, by combining those ASHPs with a minimum set temp, so rooms with plumbing cannot freeze, but then quickly warm up a room if human activity is present. Probably 90% of rooms in cities are "heated or A/C-cooled" despite being empty. That is incredible waste.
