How does my arena surface affect the soundness of my horse? 🤔 When measuring the impact of a surface on the horse's footfall, we look at three separate movements within a stride - the landing, loading, and push-off. 🚀 An ideal surface supports the horse's limbs throughout all of these phases! Providing a mixture of firmness, cushioning, and rebound to accomplish shock-absorbency for the landing, support during the loading, and a return of energy for the push-off. This is just one of many running and walking scenarios we are investigating, in order to keep the comforts criteria with in the limits.
