I think are 4 key Elements for younger talents seeking prodigious outcomes. 🌍Exposure. It is important to expose more broadly to help uncover what brings a tinkle to their eyes and there after revealing what is special about themselves. It also help open their minds on what is possible. 🤜Effort. Copious amount of effort. Most of the time beyond reasonable realms of pain. 🥸Expertise. You definitely need a mentor of the right level to help develop and polish you. And help you heal and recover to be stronger than before. 🧑🍼Environment. The importance of nurturing environment is critical. Safe space to fail and try, stimulating, positivitity, away from drama, access to resources and hence opportunities. All family environment is different. One thing good about Singapore is the large stable and safe environment, as well as the large scale efforts to afford every child more exposure, and the access to resources and opportunities. That said, we cannot deny the outsized impact of family with more resources on young talents. Yet, I'm seeing tweaks in scholarship systems and rise of more social communities to help reduce the gap for the young from all backgrounds. Including those from very severely disadvantaged families. Personally, I always do my best to help more young talents that I come across in terms of the 4 Es. One reason for me is Prodigies remind us perhaps there are hidden talent, something beautiful within all of us waiting to be uncovered and sharpened. 9-year-old Travis Wong returned from Italy with a specially crafted violin and a Medal of the Senate of the Italian Republic after winning the 31st Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition outshining older participants. Confused when called on stage at Teatro dell’Aquila, Travis thought he was to play again. “I didn’t understand what was happening,” he said. Backstage, he learned he was the absolute winner. Playing with a borrowed violin, Travis also won Category A (ages 8-11), earning a €1,400 prize. Over 100 participants from around the world competed. “I was nervous before I went on stage, but once I started playing, I felt fine and enjoyed my music,” he said. Travis first gained attention at five, achieving a distinction in the Grade 8 violin exam by ABRSM. He began playing at three after watching a YouTube orchestra video. Recently, Travis attended master classes in Oxford and won competitions like the GSF Singapore Festival 2023.
