Our staffers and freelancers furiously debated the merits of 300 of the tri-county area’s finest features, from bagels to drag queens to swimming pools to memes and more. And today, we hand them over to you, along with the results of our annual Readers’ Poll. One thing we know for certain: You are our “best” readers. We love you. And we love Miami, our wild and disastrous slab of swamp. Cheers to you and another weird year in the subtropics. — Liz Tracy, Editor, Best of Miami 🔗: https://lnkd.in/gX9r2Qkg 🎨 : Tom Carlson

When you think of Surfing what comes to mind? Baywatch, blondes, stoners and slackers? How far that is from the reality. Surfing isn't just a sport; it's a powerful force for good, impacting mental health and environmental sustainability. Beyond the exhilarating waves, surfing offers solace and healing, acting as a therapeutic outlet for those battling mental illness. The serenity of the ocean and the physical activity of surfing combine to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, promoting overall well-being. Moreover, surfers are at the forefront of environmental conservation efforts, recognizing the crucial role oceans play in our ecosystem. Surfers witness firsthand the impact of pollution, plastic waste, and climate change on our coasts, inspiring a deep commitment to preserving our oceans. Through initiatives like beach clean-ups, plastic reduction campaigns, and sustainable surfing practices, surfers lead by example in protecting marine environments for future generations. By harnessing the collective passion and energy of the surfing community, we can drive positive change both in mental health awareness and environmental sustainability. Its great to see the interest in surfing growing in the GCC. Recently Kelly Slater showcased his talent in Abu Dhabi and outside of Riyadh a surf area is being built in the new theme parks. How can we further leverage the power of surfing to drive positive change in our communities? #surfing #positivity #change

B2B Sales Expert / Fractional Sales Director @Outsell - Professional Speaker - I build sales machines for B2B Founder-led companies with an average contract value above 25,000 USD. I love supporting BDMs.
Series 2: The surfing cure I have started looking back at how spending ten years in a hut in the Costa Rican Rainforest affected my thinking on sales and remote leadership (I grew the company from 30 people to over 300 while there). A few things stand out: 1. Leaders need to be constantly selling their vision and why to their team. The more they do this, the more they can get out of their way and let them do their job. 2. Working with only 4 hours of electricity a day made me very focused on prioritizing what I was working on. This, in turn, curbed my tendency to constantly spring new ideas on my team (the tendency of a lot of entrepreneurs I know!). 3. The only exception to point one was that I prioritized time with my sales team. In fact, I spent more time with them than when I was in the office. Why? Because maintaining sales teams energy is critical for sales success and one of the best tools I know is for the visionary to stay in regular communications with their sales team. I was interviewed by the Financial Times a few years back on what led me to move to a remote part of Costa Rica with a 2-month-old baby and, luckily for me, a willing wife. Here is the episode if anyone wants to listen. Series 2: The surfing cure 9/10 https://lnkd.in/duerGy6z

Let’s talk about Reviewing the Title Commitment 👇 We send these over to you, and within a certain time frame, for a reason. 📄 For your own legal protection, you should be reviewing the title commitment with your buyers + sellers. Here’s an example of why: Let’s say your client wants to build a swimming pool.🏊♂️ However, after purchasing the property, and deciding the plans for the pool, they discover due to set back lines, easements and/or restrictions they can’t build a pool at all. 🚩 Since you, as their agent, were aware of their plans for the pool - this could result in a legal suit against you.

I think this is a good thing, PA ski area association opening membership to outdoor recreation business, everyone is becoming year-round. This will also add more power & might to the association to get somethings done or stopped. I'm also sure it will lead to more cross ties to keep everyone open longer with more support. https://lnkd.in/gSAnkJ2X @goskipa @GoSkiPA #OutdoorIndustry #SkiAreaLaw #SkiLaw @RecreationLaw #RecLaw #RecreationLaw

Funnel engagement specialist // Emotionally-intelligent conversion copywriting // For outdoor, wellbeing + sport brands
Where you can’t quite spot your landing, you’re not 100% what’s on the other side of that door, or the response you’re going to get from the people who pay your bills… Making business decisions needs a level of calculated risk. ‘𝘔𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘦𝘴 “𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘩, 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘧 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘏𝘈𝘝𝘌 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬.” 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘪.” 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘺.’ This epic short from YETI + World Surf League is all about Leah Dawson is one of my ALL TIME favourite surfers, who I interviewed for a uni e-zine back in the day. (I asked her all about stigmas against women in the water. And if she was a pizza topping, what flavour would she be... it was spinach BTW.) Taking calculated risks may not always lead to success. But help us learn and evolve. Without calculated risk, we quickly become irrelevant. (Or burnt out, if you're the reckless kind.) This year, my calculated risks have been around pitching to epic outdoor, wellbeing and sports brands. I'm being ok with rejection - it keeps me learning, aware of the waves of change around me. ...with the view that 1 risk lands out of 100. And what's on the other side of the door is legacy-making. ⚡ What are you taking *calculated* risks on in 2024? ⚡
