Some weeks ago I mentioned that In pursuit of becoming a top Virtual Assistant and Project Manager in this digital era, I signed up for an internship at Nobel Navigators, a company in Washington DC, USA passionately driven to help global youth get one step closer to their future digital careers. Through this internship, I have been exploring and navigating new digital skills while collaborating with an amazing network of global youth leaders! 🌍 One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been the privilege of networking with people from all over the world. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to develop essential digital skills that are now shaping my growth as both a Virtual Assistant and Project Manager. Additionally, I’ve been sharpening my soft skills as a virtual worker and practicing my leadership skills—but that’s a story for another day! 😉 ✨ Today, I am thrilled to share that I’m joining the heart of Nobel—the Operations Team! ✨ This is where everything happens, and I am beyond excited to dive into this new role. Being part of the operations team will strengthen both my Virtual Assistant and Project Management skills as I take on responsibilities like email management, virtual meeting coordination, troubleshooting technical issues on the fly, database compilation, and overseeing major events at Nobel. I can't wait to get started and further hone my skills in this incredible environment! #DigitalSkills #VirtualAssistant #ProjectManagement #Leadership #CareerGrowth #GlobalNetworking #NobelInternship #ExcitedForWhatsNext

This Monday marks the start of our Summer Student Programme—a project I’m deeply passionate about because it gives young people some of their first professional work opportunities. It’s always inspiring to see their enthusiasm and potential. It also got me reflecting on my own journey. I recently dug out my very first CV, which I wrote when applying for a receptionist job (back when I was just starting out). Looking at it, I couldn’t help but smile at how far I’ve come and how those early roles shaped the person I am today. Moments like these remind me of the importance of pausing to reflect on our growth and how small beginnings can lead to incredible opportunities. To the students joining us on Monday: embrace the experience, make the most of the learning, and know that every step of your journey matters. What’s one thing that shaped your early career? I’d love to hear your reflections. #CareerJourney #YouthOpportunities #ProfessionalGrowth #Reflection

“Hey Paul, what was the best part of these Minnesota Talent Leaders events for you?” Easy, the people. Yes, the content was A+ and I learned a lot. (re)Connecting with people was the best part. For some, I had not seen them in a year, five years and in one case eleven years. For real, eleven years. For others it was finally saying hello in person for the first time. No, LinkedIn and Facebook are not enough. Because of the events I am aware of a few recruiter contractor roles being filled, candidate leads being shared, an internship filled, and an Airbnb reservation made. Yes, one attendee has a cabin that another attendee has booked for a week in August. It’s good to see these people again. #TalentMN #RecruiterLife

And so ends my first awesome week managing an intern! It was a rewarding week but also exhausting (in a good way). 🙌 I haven’t managed anyone in a marketing capacity before but my brain is facing the equivalent of trying a new exercise and feeling parts of your body you didn’t know you had. My only other management experiences involved managing merch booths at concerts and helping manage a staff of RAs in college. I still don’t know if managing a team is my calling, but this is a great way to feel things out. I do know I prefer this managing role much much more my past experiences. I’m not having to manage around intoxicated customers/students, so that fact alone wins out. 😂 #management #managergrowth #marketer #professionaldevelopment #newskills

Sending the biggest congratulations to Mia Piotti! Mia started out as our volunteer Communications Intern for Carols by Candlelight last year, secured ongoing casual work as a Communications Assistant this year and now after only a couple of weeks from graduating university has landed her first full time role at Vision Australia as our Corporate Partnerships & Events team's Communications Coordinator! Mia, this is a huge achievement and a testament to all of your hard work this past year, we are so happy to have you as a permanent member of our team. I hope you’re as proud of yourself as we are, watching you succeed brings me so much joy and I cannot wait to see you shine bright and develop in your career moving forward - it’s going to be a good one. CONGRATULATIONS 🥳 And on this - to hiring managers who may hesitate to recruit talent with limited industry experience—I encourage you to consider graduating students or those still studying, especially if you work in the NFP sector. Internships are a powerful starting point. I’ve been incredibly fortunate in my career to mentor fresh, young talent, watching them grow and achieve remarkable things. I’ve learned so much from them, too. And it’s exactly how I started out. Without the chance to experience the work they aspire to do—and leaders who believe in them—these bright minds won’t get that essential start. They bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and a genuine curiosity to learn, often overlooked yet immensely valuable. Attitude and a willingness to learn are, to me, the most critical qualities someone can bring. I’ve had times myself where I thought, 'Do I have enough experience for this role?' and then reframed it with, 'I can learn how to do that.' And I believe anyone can learn to do just about anything with the right mindset and leadership. Support learning, foster growth, and create opportunities for fresh talent. You won’t be disappointed—I certainly am not! #talent #opportunities #mentoring #leadership #learning
