PROFESSIONAL HIVE MIND: I decided to count how many minimalist portraits I have done to date, and they easily number over 300, from singers and actors to historical figures and even friends. It seems to be the style where my mind and heart gravitate right now and I at least have a lot of fun doing them. A friend asked recently why I did them, or rather, if they were part of a larger project. I said, “No, not yet (always say “not yet” in life to keep the door open). I currently do them for creative enjoyment, to keep my design muscles in use, and in the case of awareness months, to raise…well, awareness. That said, I would love to see them become something physical out in the larger world. Editorial spot illustrations? A book? Album covers? Thoughts? What would you buy that had these? That is the bottom line question as a publisher, art director, etc. will only buy them they in turn compel consumers to buy them. Here is a sample of just singers I have done. Tag someone you think would love these.

Fun stuff, Michael! ...although I'm gonna need to have Steven Tyler explained to me. I'm assuming that rays = passed on?
