On Friday, as part of Annual Business Meeting, we heard from an incredible guest speaker, Veronica Shanti Pereira. Shanti, a track and field superstar, the fastest woman in Asia, and now Olympian, shared with us her recipe for a success race: 1) 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: She trained for months, with the guidance of a coach - twice a day with a strict diet. 2) 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Together they developed a race plan for the day of the race. 3) 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭: Before the race she had already decided that she was going to win. 4) 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐞: She executed her plan to perfection. 5) 𝐖𝐢𝐧: She won. 𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: 💥 “Focus on what you can control” 💥 “Love what you do” 💥 “Big Goals require Big Commitment” #inspiration #goals #planningforsuccess #singapore

Your dose of ✨ Friday inspiration ✨ From her first marathon in 2019 to running with the elites in 2024, Anya has shown us that you don't have to be an expert from day one - you just need to start and keep going! How does this apply to leadership? Great leaders aren't made overnight. They're grown from experiences, from learning, and from simply taking that first step. Anya’s increased confidence didn’t come from crossing the finish line, but from the process and journey itself. For all you aspiring leaders out there, it's the day-to-day grind, the small wins, and the lessons learned along the way that build us up. So, if you've been waiting to step up and lead, or to start that project you've been dreaming about, let Anya's story be your motivation. Remember, you don't have to have all the answers to start - you just have to start to find them.

As a fitness enthusiast, I have a few points to drop on this Saturday morning. 😀 Although it's a race of one's own pace, the non-negotiable truth is: spending less time talking about what you are "going to do" versus just doing it will put you miles ahead of most people. Another thing is keeping consistent after your first day attempting something or trying something new to actually get better at it. This applies to all aspects of our lives. When you start now and are consistent with whatever you are engaging in, you will make progress even if you cannot see it at first. For example, even if you have no interest in playing an instrument, record yourself attempting to play the piano on the first day, then consistently play it every day for 100 days, even 30 days. Record yourself on day 30 and see how significantly better you are at it. When we were all born, we had to learn how to walk, but look at how second nature it is today because we had no choice but to work on it every day. Even to this day, we are practicing. Anya Culling's story has no secret. I bet she also had challenges during the process, but she kept showing up during her training over the years, hence her inevitable progress in her running times. In summary, consistency is key, and of course, my all-time favorite quote: "Trust the process."

Who else was inspired by the London Marathon yesterday?! I always enjoy the news that comes surrounding the London Marathon… and the below is such an inspiring story; I couldn’t not re-share this. Thanks for sharing Clair Heaviside I particularly enjoyed noticing how Anya's story is a fantastic example of how an iterative approach can lead to amazing results, both in running and beyond. Think of Anya's progress like an agile iterative delivery: She started with a "minimum viable marathon" (her first run in 2019!), learning and refining her approach with each race. Her learnings fuelled her improvement from a 4.34 completion time in 2019 to 2:36 in 2022….to getting her pb of 2:34 at Copenhagen 2023, which qualified her for an Elite vest at London… And this year… competing for the first time in the Elite category and coming 16th! An incredible feat for someone that had only started running during lockdown! By continuously iterating and incorporating what worked (and what didn't!), she reached the elite level in just five years. And here’s the best part; Anya never set out to be elite. She simply focussed on enjoying the journey which helped her continuously improve at each step. This is a powerful reminder that sometimes the most ambitious goals are achieved by focusing on the process, the learning, and the joy of the journey itself. #agile #running #inspiration #marathon #iterativedelivery #continuousimprovement

"You don't need to be great to get started, you just need to get started to be great" - Such an inspiring story! This woman's story shows how feeling great and gaining confidence doesn't have to be based solely off getting the results, but taking part in the experience. How a process makes you feel can inspire confidence within, achieving small milestones along the way! And that this feeling in itself is an achievement! Too often we focus on the final destination, the result. Whether it's with a diet, or at work, or in sport etc. We often let the fear of not being able to achieve the end result keep us from starting, or feeling like we aren't good enough, doing it right or fast enough keep us from continuing. Not realising that sometimes the journey can be just as valuable and fun an experience! It reminds me of quote from my favorite Hilary Duff teen movie 'A Cinderella Story' - "Don't let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game." So if you have been longing to find a new job, start a new hobby or achieve a goal - like Nike - "Just do it"!! You never know it may work out better then you ever imagined, even if it takes a bit of work to get there, you might just enjoy it! Well Done Anya! Keep Going! #motivation #quotes #inspiringstories #positivestories #positivity #goals #fun #justdoit

Getting started is often the hardest part of any journey towards greatness. Many of us hold ourselves back because we fear of failure. Greatness isn't a prerequisite for starting—it's a destination we reach through action and perseverance. The path to greatness begins with that first step. By taking action and committing to our goals, we gain momentum and start to build the skills and confidence needed to excel. Each step forward, no matter how modest, brings us closer to realizing our potential. The journey to greatness is not about innate talent or perfection from the outset. It's about embracing the process of learning and development, fueled by the courage to start despite uncertainties. By taking that first crucial step, we set ourselves on the path to becoming the best version of ourselves. So, don't wait for perfection to arrive; start now and let your efforts pave the way to greatness.
