What's the difference between ACCENT and PRONUNCIATION, anyway?! Is it OK to have an ACCENT when speaking English? What about PRONUNCIATION?! Aren't some words pronounced differently?! So what's the big deal? Accents are OK, especially when you are speaking a SECOND language. But PRONUNCIATION is essential if you don't want people to MISUNDERSTAND what you are saying! Do you think PRONUNCIATION and ACCENT are the same thing? If not, which one is more important for clear communication? 👍🏻🇺🇸 . . . #pronunciationmatters #englishroundtables #beyondfluency #alemdafluencia #englishteachers #professoresdeingles #speakfluently #nativeteachers #americanenglish #americanteachers #realenglish #improveyourenglish #inglesdeverdade #englishonline #melhoreseuingles #speakenglish #conversationclasses

"Even though I would say my English is now at a high professional level, there is always room for improvement, right?" Last year, I set up a 5-day Pronunciation Challenge, to help you work on your own pronunciation. The feedback has been great, here are some more words from Olga: "I really enjoyed Jennie’s 5-day Pronunciation Challenge! English is not my first language and I’ve lived in more than one English-speaking country. Even though I would say my English is now at a high professional level, there is always room for improvement, right? 😉 My favourite (and a very cringy at first) task was to record yourself speaking English and then listen back to that recording. It helped me a lot in improving my pronunciation, as I realised that all I needed was - to slow down- speak more slowly and articulate clearly! 😃 I would highly recommend working with Jennie, whatever your level of English, because you will definitely improve it even further! 💯" Thank you Olga! If you'd like to sign up to the 5-day pronunciation challenge, you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/ec9Bzzpz Alternatively, if you're interested in a more in-depth look at English pronunciation, to help you feel more confident in your own speech, why not join me for Comprehensive Pronunciation (we're starting next week!) here: https://lnkd.in/eDH4zev3 #englishpronunciation #englishproficiency #speakingenglish #excellenceinenglisheducation

Did you know...? English is a lazy language. When we can get away with it, we don't pronounce vowels, consonants, or even words sometimes. We use contractions regularly, even some which would never be written! As long as others can still understand what we're saying to them, we pronounce as little as possible! For instance: 'Comfortable' becomes /'kʌmftəbəl/ 'That tree' becomes /ðætri:/ 'I hope you are well' becomes 'Hope you're well' 'I would not have gone if I had known' becomes 'I wouldn't've gone if I'd known' All of these changes help our mouths and tongues move more swiftly and easily between the words whilst still conveying the same meaning. Understanding English pronunciation is the first step to - better comprehension - improved fluency - speaking more confidently How do you feel about English pronunciation? Comment below, I'd love to hear your thoughts! If you'd like to build up confidence in your pronunciation, or even just understanding fluent speakers, send me a DM with the words 'CONFIDENT PRONUNCIATION' to discuss how we could work together. #englishpronunciation #englishislazy #teachingenglish #englishteachers #speakwithconfidence #excellenceinenglisheducation

A COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO BAD PRONUNCIATION Have you experienced trying to speak with a French speaker and when you did, he or she just stared at you blankly but when you wrote your thoughts down they made perfect sense to them? The problem is often not your accent but your ability to pronounce words in a comprehensible manner. 📌A key and cost-efficient solution to practice your pronunciation is by « reading aloud ». Reading aloud enables you to practice your sounds and correct them on your own. It is an activity that you can do for 10 minutes per time and which can boost your speaking proficiency. It is definitely something you want to invest in. Although there is no "correct" accent for speaking French language, but there is an "understandable" pronunciation which would help you in communicating. Understanding is key not just for you but also for your speaking partner. Follow for Part 2 on how to read aloud for maximal results #speakingfrench #reading #learningfrench #frenchlanguage #frenchteacher
