What an excellent keynote presentation we had from Craig Bennett CEO Wildlife Trusts at the recent Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) & CECA North West 4th Manchester Lecture. Some very thought provoking statements around the Lecture theme of 'Adding Value Through Collaboration - 'Construction & Infrastructure: One of the causes of climate and nature crises, or part of the solution?' #CICES #CECANW #Wildlife #Nature #Climate #infrastructure #Construction #Collaboration

RURAL BOUNDARY REALIGNMENT: Our bread and butter! Surveying and Town Planning within Rural and Peri-Urban settings is one of our favourite things to do. With 80 years of experience, we know the importance of improving the lot configuration of a rural property. There are often benefits to the owner, the Council and the broader community. Owners can use the land better, Council can rest assured the land is reaching it’s maximum potential, and the broader community can see lesser impacts on the environment or can have access to an otherwise landlocked or difficult to build on property. This is just one example of the dozens of projects we do in the Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Ipswich regions. #surveyinglife #surveying #surveylife #surveyorsaustralia #development #planning #construction #engineering #landscape #surveyor #townplanner #townplanneraustralia

Due to permit delays and unsettled mountain weather this week, construction work around the Sheep Pens area and the Lytton Fan, for Phase 2 of the Van Norden Meadow Restoration Project, is cancelled for this year and postponed to fall of 2025. We are making this decision with an abundance of caution, knowing that the summit can be unforgiving after mid-October. With high elevation restoration projects like the Van Norden Meadow Restoration Project, we don’t start a project unless we are sure that we can finish it by 10/15, knowing that every day after 10/15, we have a significant risk of a snowstorm. Despite the setback, we know that this is the right decision as it will ensure that the implementation of Phase 2 rolls out smoothly in 2025. For the remainder of the 2024 season, tree work will continue around the meadow edge and adaptive management work will commence on the east side of the meadow. We anticipate continuing tree thinning and removal for the rest of September and into October 2024. For more information on our Van Norden Meadow Restoration Project: https://buff.ly/4dddDEw

Manager, Climate Adaptation & Equity at the City of Vancouver Opinions expressed here are solely my own.
Check out this great resource on green infrastructure design. From design approaches to specific design elements to plant palettes! Lots of thought + care went into this work. Please take a look!
Planning a project in Green Infrastructure and don't know where to start? We have design resources on our website that may provide a good starting point. We have recently published a bloom palette of plant species to get you started as well. This is by no means exhaustive but a snap shot of what we have been planting in GI in Vancouver. We strive to monitor successes and failures as we grow in this field (no pun intended) so the palette will shift and change as we continue to learn and optimize. Please always consider what grows in your ecoregion. aka - stop and smell the flowers 🌸 https://lnkd.in/daD_gTKX

🔍 Navigating Zoning: Wetland Mitigation and Delineation 🌿🏞️ In the world of real estate development, understanding zoning intricacies is crucial. One of the most complex yet essential aspects is wetland mitigation and stream and wetland delineation. Here’s why this should be on your radar: 🔹 Understanding Wetland Delineation Wetland delineation is the first step in identifying and classifying wetlands on your property. 🔸 Field Surveys: Conducting on-site inspections to determine the presence of wetlands based on soil, vegetation, and hydrology. 🔹 Mapping: Creating detailed maps to show wetland boundaries, ensuring compliance with regulations. 1987 Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual The 1987 Manual remains the cornerstone for wetland delineation: 🔸 Guidelines: Offers a structured approach to identifying wetlands, focusing on vegetation, soil, and hydrology indicators. 🔹 Compliance: Ensures your project meets federal standards, avoiding costly violations and project delays. Wetland Mitigation Strategies, If development impacts wetlands, mitigation is required to offset the loss: 🔹 On-Site Mitigation: Creating or restoring wetlands within the project area. 🔸 Off-Site Mitigation: Utilizing mitigation banks or off-site locations to compensate for wetland loss. Key Considerations to Avoid Violations 🔹 Early Assessment: Engage with environmental consultants early in the planning process. 🔸 Accurate Delineation: Ensure precise wetland boundaries are marked to avoid accidental encroachment. 🔹 Regulatory Coordination: Work closely with local, state, and federal agencies to navigate permitting requirements. Ensuring Development Density 🔸 Understanding wetland regulations is critical to maximizing your development potential: 🔹 Density Calculations: Consider wetland areas in your overall site planning to ensure permissible density. 🔸 Buffer Zones: Account for required buffer zones around wetlands, which can impact usable land area. By prioritizing wetland delineation and mitigation, you not only comply with regulations but also contribute to environmental sustainability. Stay informed, plan ahead, and engage with experts to navigate this crucial aspect of zoning and land development. #RealEstate #Zoning #WetlandMitigation #EnvironmentalCompliance #LandDevelopment #SustainableDevelopment #AirburstCapital #RudyStefanitsis #oz #qof #qozb #ohiooz #opportunityzones #ohioopportunityzones #ohiorealestate #ohiotaxcredit #QCT #DDA #Affordablehousing #multifamily #flexspace #str #shorttermrental #cabinrental #treehouserental #ohiofamilyoffice #capitalraising #raisecapital #Capitalgains #investcapitalgains #ohioozfund #ohiorealestatefund #gp #lp #accreditedinvestor #nonaccreditedinvestor #qualifiedpurchaser #ohioAHT #LIHTC #ohiolanddeals #failed1031 #ohioqof #ohioQOB #investcapitalgains #ohiocommercialrealestate #ohiocre #ohiolandflips #entitlements #engineering #zoning #flipland #costsegregation #bonusdepreciation #2017taxact

ACO were approached to provide a solution to Dublin City Council's progressive policy objectives relating to flood risk, climate change and biodiversity, and our ACO RoofBloxx system was utilised to satisfy these complex issues as the first blue green roof installed in the city. Blue Green roofs are quickly becoming a critical part of drainage infrastructure in Urban areas, combining the principles of Blue and Green roofing can increase the overall benefits of green roofscapes and allow for the storage and controlled release of storm water. The article below offers a great insight into the development and how Engineers, Designers and Clients alike can benefit greatly from engaging ACO's experts on such projects. Together we can all care for water. https://lnkd.in/eA4DVPwt #architects #floodrisk #drainage #drainagesolutions #greeninfrastructure #greenroofs #landscapearchitecture

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 GWES is proud to be working with the City of Covington, Georgia on the remediation assessment for the drainage ponds in Academy Springs Park. Our team is currently preparing a detailed technical memo that will thoroughly evaluate the existing conditions of the ponds, identify the factors contributing to the ongoing drainage issues, and propose viable solutions, all while considering regulatory constraints. The drainage ponds at Academy Springs Park are currently facing challenges due to debris, sediment, and vegetation buildup, which is blocking the drainage pathways and impacting both the aesthetics and functionality of the ponds. Our goal is to restore the ponds to optimal condition, ensuring they not only function effectively but also contribute to the beauty of the park. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to advance this important project for the City of Covington! #GWES #CivilEngineering #Infrastructure #CityofCovington #DrainageSolutions #EnvironmentalEngineering #ProjectUpdate
