They already are bidding - so not sure what’s newsworthy here. Should be noted it’s not actually about construction - South Africa has a long history of very successful delivery of highly technical projects and that remains because of the can do attitude of our people- it’s more about about how to fund development - and what’s not transparent - ever- is the cost of the soft loans that come as part of the package that Chinese contractors offer- that’s a fact - I’ve heard them on site inspection visits boasting that their edge is the “finance” they bring to the table- the real cost to our country is hard to quantify but instant gratification has its price. So really it boils down to a lazy way of getting some funding to be seen to achieving something which actually in retrospect won’t benefit our people significantly - I am dispointed as I think better avenues to the much needed growth and development of our nation are desperately required and needed. We must not sell ourselves short when it comes to our abilities - we can do anything any other foreign nation can do.

A new government not dominated by the ANC could bring significant changes to the construction industry in South Africa. Here are some potential future developments for construction projects: 1. Increased private sector investment: A new government may encourage private sector investment in infrastructure development, leading to more public-private partnerships and private-led construction projects. 2. Shift in infrastructure priorities: A new government may prioritize infrastructure projects that benefit the broader population, such as affordable housing, public transportation, and community facilities. 3. Improved project management: A new government may implement more efficient project management practices, reducing corruption and increasing transparency in construction projects. 4. Enhanced regulatory environment: A new government may streamline regulations and permits, making it easier for construction projects to get off the ground. 5. Increased focus on sustainability: A new government may prioritize sustainable and environmentally friendly construction practices, driving innovation in green building and renewable energy. 6. More opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): A new government may create more opportunities for SMEs to participate in construction projects, promoting economic growth and job creation. 7. Improved skills development: A new government may invest in training and skills development programs, addressing the industry's skills shortage and promoting local talent. A new government not dominated by the ANC could bring fresh perspectives and approaches to construction projects, driving growth, innovation, and development in South Africa's construction industry.
