Have you heard about this recent Gordie Howe International Bridge milestone: completion of the bridge deck? While not yet open to the public, this now makes the bridge an official border crossing between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan. Construction continues to complete the final elements for the six-lane bridge. It is the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America, spanning 853 m (almost 2,800 ft). Work on the Gordie Howe Bridge began in 2018 to alleviate traffic congestion for trade between the United States and Canada. The project also involves the Michigan I-75 Interchange design that includes four new road bridges, five new pedestrian bridges, four interchange ramps, and local road improvements.
