Culture First Community Manager at Culture Amp 🤝 Experience & Event Designer 🎟 Meeting Facilitator👂 Workplace Culture Enthusiast 👏
Menopause affects half the population, yet we're not talking about it at work. WHY?! Menopause is not a 'situation' to be fixed or a 'problem' to be solved. It's a natural part of life for women, yet it's often ignored or misunderstood in the workplace. We need to change that narrative. The national consciousness of menopause is being raised, but often women don't receive the support from the medical profession they need, nor do they know how to approach the topic with colleagues. Next week, the #culturefirst community is talkin' bout it! I'm excited to invite you to our upcoming event, "Thriving in Life and at Work through Menopause," where we'll unravel some of the mysteries surrounding this stage of life. Join us for a fireside chat between the wise and talented Sonja Montague MacKay and her GP (also a menopause specialist), Dr. Catherine Smith, to learn more about how to navigate this journey with confidence. 🗓️ Date: June 24th ⏰ Time: 10am PT / 1:00 pm ET / 6pm BT 🔗 Link to register - https://lnkd.in/gFfyBiEV Let's empower ourselves and our colleagues by breaking the silence around menopause. Together, we can make our workplaces more inclusive and supportive for everyone. hashtag#Menopause hashtag#WorkplaceWellbeing hashtag#InclusiveWorkplace hashtag#Empowerment hashtag#ThrivingThroughMenopause

There’s more to be done! 💪 Society has made strides in discussing the once-taboo topic of menopause. It's heartening to see more openness around this topic, especially for someone like me who strives daily to open up conversations and help people who are struggling. However, there is still a challenge we must confront - the danger of complacency. While we've taken steps to break the silence, it's crucial to recognise that the conversation about menopause is far from over. Let's not mistake increased awareness for resolution. In the workplace, many are still navigating this journey alone, feeling the weight of symptoms in silence. It's like we've cracked open the door to discussion, but there's a tendency to think the job is done. The reality? People are still facing stigma, misunderstanding, and a lack of support. Menopause doesn't vanish with acknowledgment; it demands ongoing dialogue, empathy, and actionable change. So, here's a gentle reminder that our work is far from finished. Let's resist the urge to pat ourselves on the back for merely broaching the subject. Instead, let's dig deeper, ask uncomfortable questions, and challenge the norms that perpetuate the silence around menopause in the workplace. My job is to help amplify the voices that still need to be heard, create supportive environments, and ensure that every individual feels empowered to navigate menopause with dignity and grace. Please get in touch to help me continue my work in supporting both you and your employees in this area. https://lnkd.in/gmnufAB #menopause #perimenopause #menopauseintheworkplace #menopauseawareness #menopauseatwork #nicolagreenconsultancy #services #menopauseservices #menopausesessions

Helping professional midlife women build sustainable healthy habits to thrive through & beyond menopause | Corporate workshops, programmes & key note speaking | Podcast Host | Award winning programme | ex-Nike executive
Women need better information, and the right type, about perimenopause and menopause. I’m advocating for this and being part of the movement to make it happen. But what women need even more is to know what to change and how to make it happen. It’s like watching Masterchef. You hear the recipe, you watch them cooking it and feel inspired to recreate it yourself at home. But then you come to do it and guess what? It looks and tastes nothing like what you saw and heard the judges on Masterchef describe! This is why I provide the right information on menopause, but then go much deeper on how to build sustainable healthy habits so that you aren’t stuck exactly where you are right now. I help women to know the facts and be better informed, and then I help them build a strategy for the things they want to improve so that they feel like themselves and even thrive through and beyond menopause. If you'd like to find out more about how I can support your team, send me a DM and we can book a call. #menopauseatwork #menopauseawareness #menopausesupport #womenshealthmatters

Exploring Menopause Challenges in Today's Workplaces 🏢🚹🚺 Is Your Environment Complex? Let Us Know! Does your workplace lean towards a particular gender? While we often discuss challenges in male-dominated workplaces, such as inadequate facilities or ill-fitting uniforms, we must also acknowledge the impact on female-dominated environments. Consider social care—a setting with numerous complexities where menopause can significantly affect absenteeism and leaveism. We understand these dynamics and offer tailored solutions. As menopause gains more attention, there's a wealth of insights to share. ✅Menopause is as unique as a fingerprint, affecting each person differently. ✅It impacts all women, constituting 51% of the global population. ✅Sadly, it negatively affects 3 in 5 women at work, leading some to leave roles or reduce hours due to symptoms. These are just a few stats associated with menopause. As research progresses, we uncover more insights into this inevitable life stage. 1️⃣: Menopause isn't just for old age. Perimenopause, the first stage of the transition, can begin at any time. Symptoms typically arise around age 37, with variations among different ethnic groups. Yet, many remain unaware of its impact. 2️⃣: Men are also affected by menopause transitions. Their allyship is crucial for normalising this biological process. Including them in conversations brings curiosity and empathy, making them exceptional menopause champions. However, let's not overlook the personal aspect—menopause can strain relationships. Partners may bear the brunt of symptoms like night sweats and insomnia, affecting their ability to function at work. 3️⃣: Younger generations play a pivotal role in creating inclusive work cultures. By recognising and supporting colleagues going through menopause, they contribute to a more supportive environment for all women. The journey through menopause is complex, but together, we can navigate it with understanding and empathy. I heard a great phrase recently - "Menopause is inevitable, suffering is not. Whether you're a man or a woman, menopause is going to affect you, because it's going to affect 50% of our society." (Mary Claire Haver, interview with Diary of a CEO) It's important to remember, not just today on World Menopause Day, that everyone, in one way or another, goes through this stage of life. Since 2019 we've talked about menopause in schools, we need to make sure we keep talking about it. We want to break the taboos, raise awareness of the support available. With more than 70 symptoms, and 1 in 4 women considering leaving their jobs due to these symptoms, it's important for businesses to support them. Here are some of the things my clients do to support their teams: Menopause Policies and Best Practice Awareness Training for all employees Menopause Champions Menopause Group Coffee Chats Supportive measures within the workplace/workplace adjustments Alternative uniforms Menopause support apps Access to 24/7 GP There are many ways to help and support women in the workplace environment - there's around 13 million of us going through this, make sure your culture embraces and supports us.

October 18th – #WorldMenopauseDay. ❓Organised by the International Menopause Society (IMS) back in 2009, October 18th has since been recognised as a day to raise awareness and educate people about menopause. 6️⃣ According to The Menopause Friendly Accreditation, it’s estimated that 6 million people currently employed in the UK, are going through menopause right now. ❗ Menopause is a completely natural stage of life, but feelings of shame and/or embarrassment continue to hold people back when it comes to discussing their symptoms or asking for extra support – particularly in the workplace. 🗣️World Menopause Day looks to reduce the stigma around the subject, encouraging people to talk more openly about their experiences and reach out for help when times get tough. At Cavendish, we recognise that menopause is an individual experience and that people can be affected in different ways and to differing degrees. We believe different levels, types of support, and adjustments may be needed to drive real understanding of menopause in the workplace. We support the wellbeing of our people and strive to ensure they feel supported and able to perform to the best of their ability. We aim to create an environment where employees can openly and honestly initiate or engage in discussions about menopause. #MenopauseAwarenessMonth #BreaktheStigma #MenopauseMatters
