A new analysis of violence between intimate partners concludes that legalizing marijuana for adult use “results in a substantial decrease in rates of intimate partner violence.” The finding also indicate that recreational cannabis legalization “substantially impacts the relationship between heavy drinking” and intimate partner violence (IPV), possibly as the result of people substituting marijuana for alcohol. The analysis found that “legalization of recreational marijuana results in 56.6 fewer reported incidents of IPV per 100,000 people.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYYwFhzt

You Can't Make This Stuff Up - The DEA and Congress Are Bitching at Each Other about Rescheduling Marijuana The DEA and Congress exchange barbs about getting cannabis rescheduled asap! The consumption of marijuana has surged dramatically, with a notable instance in Michigan, where recreational use has recently been legalized. In its first year, marijuana sales are poised to exceed $3 billion, propelled by a remarkable performance in July. This upswing can be attributed to Generation Z opting for marijuana over alcohol, considering it a healthier alternative. However, the industry faces challenges such as disorderly state enforcement, burdensome taxes, and restrictive regulations, including the absence of interstate commerce, leading to significant disruptions. #cannabisnews #herbsofeden #herbsofedencbd #legalizeit https://lnkd.in/dTS-pyRV

Twelve U.S. senators led by Sen. Warren just sent a letter to the DEA and the AG calling for descheduling (not rescheduling), citing to the CRS report emphasizing that under rescheduling, state cannabis markets would remain illegal under federal law and that existing criminal penalties for certain marijuana-related activity would remain in force. Descheduling is a “rare opportunity to shape the new cannabis industry from the ground up, designing a federal regulatory system untainted by the corporate capture that has influenced alcohol and tobacco regulations, and advancing federal cannabis reforms that acknowledge and repair the harms of cannabis criminalization." h/t Marijuana Moment.

#Amdari21DaysDataChallenge #OladosuAmdari21DaysDataChallenge . AMDARI Let’s analyze the data on incidents related to different drugs (Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, Methamphetamine) and their conviction status (Convicted vs. Not Convicted). 📌Conviction Status: 📍Not Convicted cases account for a majority of incidents (66.84%), while Convicted cases make up 33.16%. 📍This could suggest either a higher rate of individuals avoiding conviction or possibly a large number of cases still pending. 📌Drug Type Distribution: 📍The distribution of incidents related to each drug type is fairly even, with Marijuana having the highest percentage (25.22%) and Heroin the lowest (24.79%). 📍This indicates that incidents related to these drugs are similarly prevalent. 📌Drug Type and Conviction Status: 📍For each drug type, about two-thirds of incidents result in no conviction, and one-third result in conviction. 📍There is no significant variation in conviction rates across different drug types, suggesting similar legal outcomes regardless of the substance involved.

From the story below: "According to Kyodo News, the health ministry confirmed Thursday that these changes, aimed at regulating cannabis use and expanding access to cannabis-derived medicines, will take effect on December 12. See Also: Japan Could Become First To Allow CBD In Food Japan Will Criminalize Cannabis Use Although Japan has long banned the possession and cultivation of marijuana, the country had yet to penalize its use. This loophole was initially left to protect hemp farmers, who might inadvertently absorb trace amounts of cannabis compounds while cultivating the plant for industrial purposes. However, growing concerns about drug abuse, particularly among young people, have prompted Japan to reverse its stance. Under the revised laws, using cannabis will be illegal, with violators facing up to seven years in prison. Authorities say this harsh stance will address the rise in drug misuse and serve as a deterrent. Japan's strict drug policies have long been known for their zero-tolerance approach, but this move marks a new era of control over even personal use."
