To improve safety and traffic flow at the second busiest intersection in Fairbanks, Alaska, our team changed how drivers turn left. By separating lefts from the core of the intersection, our innovative design not only improved safety but eliminated the need for a grade-separated interchange resulting in a savings of nearly $30 million and a construction schedule that started 6 to 10 years sooner than what was originally planned.
