Through innovative collaboration, unsellable donations are being transformed into valuable feedstock for manufacturing new products. Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, with support from NextCycle Michigan and Daika Wood, is tackling wood waste challenges by turning it into raw materials for new products. This partnership, supported by EGLE, not only diverts waste from landfills but also creates jobs and strengthens Michigan’s circular economy. The Muskegon facility, set to start operations in 2025, is just the beginning, with potential for expansion across North America. #MIEnvironment #CircularEconomy #NextCycleMI

🌏 🍃 Happy Earth Day! 🍃 🌎 At IPAK, sustainability isn’t just our goal; it's our way of life. This Earth Day, we're proud to reflect on our sustainability efforts and showcase our commitment to eco-friendly practices through upcycling and responsible disposal methods. 📦 Corrugate Upcycling: Did you know that corrugate is primarily made from renewable resources? It has a low environmental impact and supports a circular economy. At IPAK, we repurpose corrugate into new boxes or use it as filler instead of Styrofoam, reducing waste and promoting sustainability. 📄 Paper Recycling: The deterioration of paper over time encourages responsible disposal methods. IPAK has long supported these practices by recycling paper to be repurposed as pulp, minimizing our environmental footprint and conserving resources. 🔧 Equipment Repurposing: Manufacturing new equipment can lead to significant energy consumption and emissions. That is why IPAK purchases pre-existing equipment and re-purposes machinery through our in-house technicians. Not only does this conserve resources, but it also creates technician jobs in our community. 🎁 Overstock Donation: Excess material goods like stuffed animals, games, apparel, and office supplies can be repurposed through donation. IPAK identifies our overstock and donates to charitable organizations, local schools, or other worthy causes in our community, spreading joy while reducing waste. Today, we encourage you to evaluate internal practices and reaffirm your dedication to environmental stewardship! Let's work together to create positive change! #EarthDay #SustainabilityinManufacturing #EcoFriendly #CircularEconomy #ClimateChange #GreenBusiness #CorporateResponsibility #EnvironmentalStewardship #SustainableProcurement

Why would you support a GoFundMe campaign for Bottld, when there are so many other worthy causes? 🤔 🌏 Because you care about the planet and you’re fed up with empty promises about recycling, re-use and low carbon impact; 👨👨👦👦 Because Convert Design is not just a business. It’s real people with real hopes and dreams and fears just like you. And it’s people with a passion to make a tangible difference – with honesty and integrity; 💡 Because we have the vision, we have the skill, and we already have interested potential customers in local government and professional sports clubs – who share our vision; 🍼 Because we aim to achieve much more than simple collection of plastic bottles for recycling. We plan to create multiple local, low carbon, production, collection and servicing hubs; 🚛 Because this will contribute to local economies and local jobs and avoid the long haul, carbon-intensive, national and international movement of materials, which is so common in current recycling and waste management businesses; 🥫 Because plastic bottles are just the start. We’ve got future plans for aluminum and glass too; 👓 Because Christophe Convert, founder, has the engineering and design skill to implement those ideas. You could say he has ‘re-use and recycle’ in his DNA; 💸 Because without passionate support and enough finance at the right time, those great ideas can get hijacked by people more interested in profit than planet; 🏎 Because banks and professional investors don’t see dreams or positive economic & social change, they see profit – irrespective of the impact on planet and lives. And our dream is not to make profit so we can pose in fast cars and powerboats; 🤴 Because we don’t have rich families and friends - and we’re not connected through old school networks. It’s only through the support of ordinary people who care that we can make a real difference; 🏆 Because Bottld, a clever reverse vending machine for plastic bottle recycling, is a venture that deserves to succeed. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude for being part of our supportive network. Whether you personally donate or not, we will be eternally grateful if you are also able to share our story and the GoFundMe link on your social media networks. 🙏 Thank you, thank you, thank you. https://gofund.me/8a17c927 #GoFundMe #PlasticPollution

Today marks the 7th Global Recycling Day. We all have a role to play in #Recycling, from what we recycle at home to how we operate our businesses. This year’s theme is #RecyclingHeroes which recognises the people, places and activities that showcase what an important role recycling plays in contributing to an environmentally stable planet and a greener future. In 2023 we recycled over 2,600 tonnes, which resulted in avoiding 99.15% of recyclable material going to landfills. Additionally, 90.92% was repurposed as RDF energy for reuse. Recycling is just part of the circular economy. With one client donation, we provided 1,570 pieces of furniture to over 20 different schools, making a substantial contribution to a greener and more sustainable future. #GlobalRecyclingDay #CircularEconomy

If we want the litany of sustainability solutions – renewable energy, circular economy, regenerative agriculture, etc. – to work out, we’ll have to pair them with degrowth. Here’s some reflection on corporate sustainability, technology, and my own path to degrowth: https://lnkd.in/d_RgfSQn

Fascinating article from the British Charity Keep Britain Tidy. Do we need to change our day-to-day communications and better educate the public about waste prevention? Could being more open and transparent online help people understand that it's not just simply about recycling what we use, but rather about being more conscious of what we buy, use, and how we dispose of waste? #Tradeprint #sustainabilitymatters #Print #Marketing

Director at Plastecowood, manufacturers of Smartawood™️ eco-friendly lumber products using plastic packaging waste
"The message is clear: doing nothing is not an option." ♻️ We need more emphasis on encouraging everyone from government, charities, big businesses and SMEs to local schools, parks and pubs to buy products containing a significant amount of recycled materials wherever possible. Did you know? Plastecowood's Smartawood™ recycled plastic lumber products are made from 100% recycled material? Of which 50% is "too hard to recycle" soft plastics! This is a great read from WRAP's Senior Specialist Material System Transformation, Adam Herriot, on the urgency for change ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/epkp-y_a #Recycling #Lumber #RecycledPlastic #SustainableMaterials #Smartawood
