Our summers are sweltering, and the heat isn't just uncomfortable—it can be deadly. Heat islands, areas with intense urban heat, disproportionately impact certain communities. NOAA is teaming up with citizen scientists to map these hot spots and develop solutions. Learn More in the NESDIS Impacts Briefings: https://lnkd.in/eKdYq5wb

Always remember: It's just the beginning of extremes increasing now non-linear... UCLA has recorded nearly 12 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, a 1 in 1000-year rainfall rainfall event for Westwood. A truly unprecedented storm in modern history for the region as an atmospheric river stalls over the region. Here the Philippines - two times in the last 2 weeks: https://lnkd.in/g9_722Cf Also noteworthy all these extreme floodings in Europe in the last weeks. Mitigation and adaptation are a myth - if we do not reverse our course fast, with all we have, societal breakdown will be inevitable heralded by an economic system breaking apart fast in a cascade of events... https://lnkd.in/g763s4y3

Winter weather is upon us and can be potentially hazardous as Missouri typically experiences periods of extreme cold during the winter. It is important to be prepared! As a friendly reminder, the interactive map of Warming Center Sites in Missouri is located at https://lnkd.in/gT3qqAxV. It is mobile friendly and searchable by county. On the map, each warming center site indicates their address, phone number, hours of operation, whether the site is ADA accessible and if transportation is provided to the site. This interactive map is a collaborative effort between DHSS and United Way 2-1-1 and is updated in real time as the most accurate and up to date information regarding warming centers is received from our state-wide partners. If you have knowledge of a warming center in your area that is not represented on the map, you can provide this information to United Way 2-1-1 of St. Louis. It is important to remember that the extreme cold can affect everyone, but can be especially dangerous to small children, the elderly and the chronically ill. Warming centers provide a warm, safe place for people to go during cold weather. #warmupwithus #WarmUpWinter #dhssmo #UnitedWayMO #unitedwaysaintlouis

As parents, we wield immense influence over both our children and the planet's present and future. The climate crisis as well as the caucopheny of other crises is fueled by a system of separation and 1dominance over the Earth and one another, but we can change this narrative. Through parenting, we have a unique opportunity to challenge this destructive system, fostering connections, reciprocity, and responsibility within our own lives and families. Imagine a world where every interaction with our children is rooted in the understanding of our interconnectedness with all life. By embodying a culture of deep respect and sense of responsibility for nature and empathy for others, we empower our children to become stewards of the Earth. Our actions as parents ripple far beyond our homes. By embracing sustainable practices and advocating for environmental justice, we offer our children the capacity to dream and embody a culture of collective responsibility and action. What if addressing the climate crisis begins with the way we parent? What happens when we treat our children with the same ethos of relationality that the mother earth offers to us, that of care, connectivity, reciprocity and life-force.

WHY DO HUMANITY UNITE THROUGH DISASTERS? Typhoon Helena ravaged several American states. It is, by its very nature, an EXTREME CLIMATE APPEARANCE that occurred at a time of GREATEST SOLAR ACTIVITY involving solar flares and geomagnetic storms. OFFICIAL SCIENCE believes that climate change is related to a CHANGE IN THE RELATION OF ELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC COMPONENTS IN ENERGY, WHICH IS ONE. It is scientifically accepted that THAT ENERGY ALSO MAKES OUR REALITY. Although they believe that this energy is ELECTRO-MAGNETIC, scientists believe that there is EXCLUSIVELY PHYSICAL BUT NOT NON-PHYSICAL-PHYSICAL REALITY. They believe that in this reality, EXCLUSIVELY PHYSICAL FORMS (people, environment and nature) ARE MUTUALLY SEPARATE AND OPPOSED. They also believe that ALL THESE FORMS ARE IMPERFECT AND INCOMPLETE and that they must constantly be IMPROVED AND SUPPLEMENTED BY EXTERNAL SCIENCE-BASED INTERVENTIONS. In this sense, scientists believe that SOLAR ACTIVITY RESULTS FROM THE ABSORPTION OF THE EARTH INTO THE SUN, which process has a time duration. This is why they have created GEO-ENGINEERING AS A TECHNOLOGY by which they believe they can MANAGE THE INFLUENCE OF THE SUN ON THE EARTH. Since the SUN IS THE DOOR TO THE UNIVERSE, scientists believe that through geo-engineering they can MANAGE THE INFLUENCE OF THE UNIVERSE ON EARTH. DUALITY is a PERCEPTION OF REALITY based on BELIEFS. KEY among these beliefs is that THROUGH THE EXPERIENCE OF WHAT IS, WE LEARN ABOUT WHAT IS NOT, AND VICE VERSA. In this sense, THROUGH THE EXPERIENCE OF PHYSICAL REALITY WE LEARN ABOUT NON-PHYSICAL REALITY. With that in mind, it remains for us to see WHAT HUMANITY HAS LEARNED THROUGH THE DISASTERS AND WARS THAT MANIFEST AS THE PHYSICAL REALITY OF THE EARTH? #catastrophes #learning #equilibrium #jasnicaklaramatic https://lnkd.in/evS7kqQa

Creating new climate equity narratives and building ecosystems across tech, media & sustainable finance | Comms Strategist | Columnist | Author
Coastal US cities are sinking as sea levels continue to rise. It’s happening in Norfolk, VA—the heart of Virginia’s largest economy and home to the world’s largest naval base. There is currently no public plan to prevent the area from going under water. Hip Hop Caucus President & CEO @revyearwood shares a brief synopsis of the new short film “Underwater Projects,” which explores the environmental injustice and redevelopment plan residents are facing. Co-directed by Liz Havstad and DREAM HAMPTON and narrated by #WandaSykes, the film takes viewers on a journey into Norfolk’s St. Paul’s district, a historically Black public housing community on the frontlines of climate change. While highlighting perspectives from community leaders, scientists, government officials, and national security experts, the documentary showcases the resilience of the people, and the fact that this kind of environmental degradation is happening all around the world.
